Good news....another Polish chick hatched, beautiful all white and a very nice, round, large crest. These girls play their cards/chicks very close to their chest so I'm seeing different chicks every time I peek, but I think I have 3 Polish, two WCB and one White....I'm thinking I saw a solid black too but I'm not sure.
Bad news is that the chick that I helped take the shell off came out today and it seems it's having trouble standing. I think that it will need to be culled. Would someone mind telling us (and in these unpleasant cases, when I say "us" I mean my husband) exactly what the procedure is for humanely culling a few days old chick. I'm sure he will take care of it without my input but I'd like to give him pointers since it's not something done before around here. Missy, I know you have, unfortunately recent experience with this if you'd be willing to share. If people would rather not post the delicate info then please PM me or guide me to a thread.
