Nevadans?

:frow Hi everyone! Welcome Viktoria. I'm happy to meet you.

That was good Tyler. You should start eating spinach.

Yeah Sunny, please don't forget me either. How can telling us how you really feel be complaining? You hurt and it's alright talking about it. It makes me feel like I would get some relief by talking about it if it was me? My FIL's back was crooked but it also spiraled around as well. He was 6'1" at 21 years old and when he passed away I was taller than him. He found out later in his life he had polio as a child. No one knew. His best friend had polio and died from it. No one in the family thought he got it. He did get sick but was told it was pneumonia. Not once would he complain or talk about it. He went to a back specialist and the specialist said, I can't se how you do it. Let me go in there and fix it just a bit. Boy did he blow up and said - you will not be touching my back. Well 2 years later he finally let him do it. My FIL was so much better getting some of the pressure off his spine. My FIL finally spoke out on how hard it was all those years with no relief in sight until now.

Oh and I have a new member in my flock. Yesterday little Bridgette joined us. She's 6 weeks old and is the most beautiful little French girl I've ever seen. I see some of Amanda's ways in her. She's going to be very dainty. She's with the last 2 ducks that hatched 3 weeks ago. Bridgette would only step out of the new area like 6" from the box. She finally ventured out at 9am this morning. It was sooooo cute. Every time she went back in the ducks would go inside with her and lay down for a bit and then call her out. They're doing great and are very happy. Thank you Sunny for this little one.

Does spinach artichoke dip count?
I find eating spinach cruel and inhumane.

Glad to hear Bridgette is doing so well! BCM?

Well the storm last night decimated my flock of meaties. I lost 14 out of my 20!

They were all laying around out in the open. I guess they were too dumb to at least go under the coop and huddle.

Now I'm wondering if the remaining 6 will make it through the day.

I'm sorry Ron. I guess they're like some of the turkeys out there. If it rains they look up and drown. I hope the rest makes it.

Um, Tyler, I don't think so. I know you think spinach is cruel and inhumane but the spinach doesn't think so. The spinach actually says eat me, eat me. I promise to help you build up your body if you eat me.

Missy, shes a french black copper marans. It was the only girl left from Sunny's hatching.

congrats on your new addition, Sheryl!

Thanks Elizabeth (you too, Sheryl)! C-A-L did start getting them again - they had told me they were just trying to get rid of them once but I guess they started selling. I don't know if they still have any but I was already planning on heading over there today to pick up some gardening supplies so I'll find out.

Wow, poor things. They were less than 2 weeks, weren't they? Sorry to hear you lost them. I really had my eye on the weather, but we stayed a few degrees above freezing... for being in the most sheltered part of the entire valley. I'm expecting everyone else didn't fare as well.

I'm so sorry Ron. Are these birds known for not getting out of the rain? I hope the others are ok. That sucks!

Tyler I was thinking about you last night when I watched a documentary called Buck. Have you seen it? I'd recommend it for even people who aren't into horses. This guy Buck was the guy the movie The Horse Whisperer was based on, I think it was but anyway he was on set and his own horse was in the movie. Also, a really sad part of the film was filmed in Chico, just next to Paradise and featured the local shoer. Won awards at Sundance film festival. www.buckthefilm.com

They were 4 weeks. Fully feathered, too. They had been in the grow out pen since last Sunday. I don't think it got below freezing - I didn't see any sign of it. There was a dusting of snow on the Virginia Range, but the snow line was well above me. It was 39° when I left for work this AM.

Well they are known for just wanting to sit and eat. At least that is what I've read on this site. But they seemed pretty clever to me (at least some of them did), and mine also seemed relatively active. They didn't just sit in front of the feed trough all day like I had read.
