Nevadans?

Today, my daughter served us up a dinner of organic garden-fresh baby greens and a homemade raspberry balsamic dressing, with bell peppers, tomatoes, apples, and mozzarella made fresh today. Served beside roasted baby potatoes dotted with ketchup. I made the cheese, but she did the rest... completely uncoached! She's 11.

Now Joe feels the competition, so he volunteered to do dinner tomorrow... although he already made us BLTs and salad yesterday. They're only assigned one dinner per week, but if he wants to do it twice... I'm not complaining.

Thanks missy! I'll be down there 1030-530, but can stop by after work too.

Update on frizz, she's still stinky and snotty but has no other symptoms. No swelling or eye discharge. Doesn't seem to have any trouble breathing except when her snot goes down her throat. Porkchop still looks and smells normal. Picking up some meds on the way home and will keep y'all updated. No other birds are showing signs of illness.

Well I've been doing a little research when I should be working and I've read a few threads on here where birds have gotten what seems like a sinus infection and been sick for weeks without any of the other birds in the flock getting ill. Josh says she sneezed on him last week and got snot on his arm so if she has been sick that long and no one else is ill. It's possible that she got something in her sinuses and it got infected. We will know in the next couple of days.

Sounds far-fetched but is there any possibility it is just allergies? I went to the Father's Day PowWow at the Stewart School in Carson City Sunday - that place is loaded with Cottonwoods and I was sneezing within 10 minutes from all the cotton blowing in the wind!

Mmm Ron I don't think so. It's definitely an infection. I can tell by the smell. It's the same smell that came from peteys face and wounds when they got infected after the raccoon attack. When she breathes out of her mouth she is fine, which is why I think it's something in her head

thanks. worms is a huge possibility too i suppose with him eating bird crap all the time.

well we pried apart the deck and got nanners. she was sitting on over 20 eggs, that little witch. I put her in a kennel with five eggs that i collected from today but with my luck she wont sit on em or they wont even be fertile.

aaaand i just stuck my hand in cat vomit. UGH I HATE TODAY!

Some days you're the windshield and some days you're the bug....

Hang in there! It's probably just a moon phase or sumthing....

for your animals, aubrey!

I'm in Chicago for a work meeting since Monday. Haven't had much chance to be on the internet. I'll be heading home tomorrow. It's been hot and humid here outside but I've been inside the A/C all day. Happy to venture out in the evenings a bit even if it's humid. Monday night was Spanish tapas. Last night was Giordano's pizza . Soooo yummy. My favorite chicago pizza place. Tonight we walked down to Grant Park for a free symphony performance. tomorrow is just a half day meeting and then I have a few hours to kill before heading to the airport.

apparently all is well at home with the kids, hubby, and animals. One of the BO's is broody again, however. So Jose has been bringing her some water and food in the nest box. One of the EE's somehow managed to get into the chick's enclosed area. I thought I had everything blocked off pretty good so I don't know how she got in there. No one was hurt though. the garden is doing fine. the kids found the snow peas and have been harvesting and eating them right away. I will be glad to be back home.

soooo cool elizabeth! i wanna go to chicago really bad. I think mark and i are going to visit detroit soon and take a train to chicago.

Boy is it HOT! poor birds. I went out there today and everyone was panting and hiding under the deck. I turned on the spigot for about a half hour and it created a pond under the deck so now the girls are all happily rolling around in it and cooling off. Got em some frozen blueberries too. they liked em enough but couldnt eat them until they thawed a little bit. I do have some watermelon that i cut into 8 chucks and put in the freezer. Once its completely frozen theyre gonna go nuts over it, i just know it. Also got them some frozen pineapple and strawberry puree. lucky birds.

Lil Frizz is lookin better today. Unfortunately Porkchop has got the runny nose too now, so she has got something contageous. Also noticed birthday present sneezing this morning and immediately pulled her from the others. Shes got the stench. Glad i cought it all early though, the three of them will get shots tonight and the others will get sulmet in their waterers this week. I figure since i wont be able to eat their eggs right now anyways i will most likely de-worm them while im at it. Feeling a lot better about the whole thing. I figure that if lil frizz can handle whatever this is as easily as she has, being my smallest bird I am not very worried about the others. Ive totally got this.

Even Elvis seems a lot happier today. Poor lil duder. Were going to the vet tomorrow. please dont tell him.

Mark and I also have an appointment to look at a wedding venue tonight. Kind of wishful thinking since its going to be a while until we can even afford to put a deposit on anything, but oh well...maybe I can con my mom into helping LOL.
