Nevadans?

So next spring I really want to get some chicks. These are the breeds:
Barred rock
Australorp
Welsummer
Ameracauna (or easter egger)
and a silkie (particularly blue or white)

Any breeders or suggestions near Reno? I am up to driving up to two hours away...

PM me if you can help

all of my birds were too old. Figures. The showgirls were the only ones who may have been young enough but since they were almost mature I decided that i wouldnt start vaccinating until my next bout of chicks. Sucks but what can ya do. At this point Mark and I are trying to decide on whether or not to have a closed flock, or to cull lil frizz and porkchop. Frizz has still got a runny nose, and it stinks to high heaven which is not a good sign. When i q-tip her nostrils the q-tip smells just awful. I am so glad she is the only bird showing signs of illness. If no one else is sick tomorrow I will know that the right descision will be to cull.

Ugh and on top of that i had to make a vet appointment for Elvis today. He is pooping blood and bleeding rectally. Last night he came into our room and slept by our bed which is very unusual. Im so over all of this!

thanks. worms is a huge possibility too i suppose with him eating bird crap all the time.

well we pried apart the deck and got nanners. she was sitting on over 20 eggs, that little witch. I put her in a kennel with five eggs that i collected from today but with my luck she wont sit on em or they wont even be fertile.

aaaand i just stuck my hand in cat vomit. UGH I HATE TODAY!

soooo cool elizabeth! i wanna go to chicago really bad. I think mark and i are going to visit detroit soon and take a train to chicago.

Boy is it HOT! poor birds. I went out there today and everyone was panting and hiding under the deck. I turned on the spigot for about a half hour and it created a pond under the deck so now the girls are all happily rolling around in it and cooling off. Got em some frozen blueberries too. they liked em enough but couldnt eat them until they thawed a little bit. I do have some watermelon that i cut into 8 chucks and put in the freezer. Once its completely frozen theyre gonna go nuts over it, i just know it. Also got them some frozen pineapple and strawberry puree. lucky birds.

Lil Frizz is lookin better today. Unfortunately Porkchop has got the runny nose too now, so she has got something contageous. Also noticed birthday present sneezing this morning and immediately pulled her from the others. Shes got the stench. Glad i cought it all early though, the three of them will get shots tonight and the others will get sulmet in their waterers this week. I figure since i wont be able to eat their eggs right now anyways i will most likely de-worm them while im at it. Feeling a lot better about the whole thing. I figure that if lil frizz can handle whatever this is as easily as she has, being my smallest bird I am not very worried about the others. Ive totally got this.

Even Elvis seems a lot happier today. Poor lil duder. Were going to the vet tomorrow. please dont tell him.

Mark and I also have an appointment to look at a wedding venue tonight. Kind of wishful thinking since its going to be a while until we can even afford to put a deposit on anything, but oh well...maybe I can con my mom into helping LOL.
Glad the animals seem to be doing better! Good luck talking Mom into helpin out!!!

I will have some EEs and ameraucanas then but I don't have anything else on your list. Sorry!

Well it's official! I will have to be moving tomorrow on my B-day. We are still not finished but we are a lot closer. As long as nothing else happens we should be done by this weekend. At least Genny took me out for a B-day lunch earlier in the week so it didn't go by with no celebration of any kind.

It'll be a celebration when you're done moving since its taken so long! I'm sure Steve will give you a special smooch and a tap on the behind when you're passing each other with arm loads of stuff!

Welcome to the group.
Ask Julie (pigtails) she and I show birds but she knows far more breeders then I do.

I have Wellies and AMs, so when you're ready you can always check with me too.

Nice to see a new member. Welcome.

Sunny how are you holding up? I know on top of moving and your birthday, you've been through a lot lately. It makes it even more difficult to get through even the normal day, let alone having all the other things on your mind. Wish I was closer. I may not be a lot of help, but I'd do what I could.
