NV thread! Hmm, I had the impression from your other posts that you didn't have any chickens yet. So what do you have already?

Okay, so I was thinking about how I was getting my chicks for next spring from My Pet Chicken and it occured to me that the only silkies they have are bantams, and all my hens are standard sized so they might pick on her. I think what I am going to do is get the other chicks I wanted, and then when I get those chicks, I will just get a silkie chick and put the silkie with the rest of them. So, to get to my point, does anyone breed or know a breeder who would happen to breed splash silkies in the Reno area?

I might know a couple people let me ask around.

Happy birthday Sunny!!!!!!

Seth send me a pic of the rabbit I'll see if it is.

Aubrey how'd Elvis's vet apointment go? Did you like the venue?

hey all, will catch up later but I did make it home last night a little after 3 a.m. due to a couple of flight delays. Pretty long day for me. I had gotten up at 6:30 central time so I was up almost 24 hours. I'm getting too old for this! I did cat nap a bit on the flights but the wait in the Las Vegas airport was almost 5 hours so I didn't nap while there.

happy birthday, sunny! hope the move goes well.

only 84 posts in a week i thought something was wrong.

aubry oh no do you think you might be getting what missy got?

BTW candy does it look like the might be a bantum buff brahama pullet for me?
It is to soon to tell what sex they are for sure, but I am going to guess I have 4 girls and 4 boys. If that is the case then I will be keeping all of the girls. I am considering buying another line of bantam buff Brahmas so maybe I will have extra pullets from the next hatch.

Here is a picture I took yesterday of them~

Today no one still looks any worse. While I do believe it is a contagious thing, I do not believe it is what Missy's flock had, and am even slightly convinced that it may not be resperatory at all, or at least not be from the bronchials or lungs.... None of the sick birds are having a hard time breathing. There is coughing only when they suck up a big wad of nose goop. The only symptoms they are showing is the smelly nasal discharge and otherwise are acting totally normal. No facial swelling, lethargy, nothing. Im glad for it too. They started their shots today and the flock is starting a round of sulmet in the water just in case. No more birds are showing signs of anything today. It has been three days since I pulled Lil Frizz.

Elvis's appointment went very well thanks, Tyler! It is the best we can hope for, i guess. It isnt cancer, but the vets dont know what it is at all. He is started on antibiotics today as well and then after he is finished with those will be de-wormed. He is in good spirits so i am no longer worried.
And thanks for asking about the venue! The showing went very well and I think it is going to end up being the place we choose. Mark and I have been there a few times for events, and Mark really loves the place. I honestly dont give a spit where the wedding is as long as there is enough grass for my lawn flamingos, and a stage and outlets for my music. This place has all of that and more and is the most inexpensive outdoor venue in town. here are some pics..

This is the ceremony area.

The "reception area" (taken from the stage)

and the indoor studio, we will most likely do food and beer in here.

It was pretty fun and exciting.

I have to come pick up my new one in Reno - that's what I meant by it being "delivered", to Sears, not me! - so I can drop the other one off to you on the way. We're probably talking Sat. July 7th.

That sounds awesome. I'm still willing to help out with gas, since this is such a good deal.

My husband is more confident about my bill-paying skills today... after the casher and the store manager congratulated us on spending $75.77 and saving $111.12 on groceries. I got 60lbs of chicken, 60 red bell peppers, 4 boxes of puff pastry, 6 lemons, a pound of almonds, 2 sodas, and 4 boxes of Fruity/Cocoa pebbles. I rarely buy name-brand cereals because the price is so sky-high, but these were less than half price.

Now I have to portion all 60lbs of chicken legs into meal-sized bags. I was going to buy more than that, but Russ reminded me that I won't have more freezer space for another few weeks.

awesome deals, missy! you will love having the extra freezer. we've had a chest freezer for probably 6-7 years and it's so nice to have space to stock up. before kids I did once a month cooking and it worked out so nice for that.

nice venue, aubrey. looks like the river school? it will be perfect for you guys.

cute little brahmas, candy! you really are getting to have lots of breeds! i can't wait until the ameraucanas I got from you start laying.

I do have chickens. I have five right now. I have two black stars, an ameracauna, and two orpingtons. I just got rid of three hens that were given to us because they we picking on them, so the others weren't laying eggs. The first chicks I got were two years ago. I have had many chickens between then and now. Do I sound inexperienced? :(
