Almost fergot............our good fortune didnt hold out for all 5 eggs.
Egg #4 stopped peeping & rockin' this afternoon. I kept hopin' for movement, but when it became apparent that wernt gunna happen I did an autopsy..... poor thing was stuck in the shell. DANG that happened FAST!
I was concerned that the Monster Man primed the swamp cooler yesterday, fearin' it would chill the house too much.
I kept the back bedroom closed off and thought the humidity was okay....but not having a hydrometer, and usin' my hair as a gauge, I reckon it twernt accurate e'nuff.

Its been cloudy & humid outside, suppose that helped the broody hen with the 3 eggs that hatched, even tho 2 pipped under her and were hatched in the incubator??

I added a wet sponge and a cuppa water to the incubator. Gunna keep my eye out for any condensation on the plexi-glass
...and pray I dont drown the last ALIVE and MOVING chick!!!!!


We'll be holdin' a funeral tomorrow mornin'.

Just a moment to give an update on mom, then back to the hospital. So far all news is as good as it gets. all test on the issue of the tumor spreading are negative. Mom was sleeping (peaceful sleep) when they came to get her for surgery, even though we had been through a 6 hour wait. I can't ask more than that when it was my job to help her be in as good a place as possible mentally and emotionally. She is already coming around as expected from the surgery and at this moment my number one concern is the physical healing from the surgery with concerns about cancer second. That may change in a week when we get more complete biopsy reports. but for now is is a relief that the disease is not our biggest fear.
Mom is in good spirits this morning but I need to get back to the hospital,
'Thank you all for your prayers and words of comfort. they matter more than I hope you ever have to know.

Vegaschick, Olivia is adorable!!! I'm such a sucker for anything with fluffy cheeks! She is the same age as my new EEs (mine are 13 and a half weeks).

Aubreynoramarie, I'd love some Silkies but my current flock has a couple of agressive birds and I think Silkies would be a poor fit. They are sooo cute though!

Penturner, glad to hear that your Mom is doing well. We will continue to send good thoughts her way 'til we hear that she has crossed the last hurdles with flying colors.

Bloomie how are those babies doing? Hope everyone's new chicks are also doing well!

I got home from the hospital at about 2:30 this afternoon. Mom is now home and doing well, we are all very tired and I took a nap for about 2 hours. As we came home our dogs where running around barking and all excited as is expected. What I did not expect was when I went out back Fuego did pretty much the same thing, without the barking. It was pretty obvious that us being gone for the last two days was not okay with him. I went in his run and set with him for quite a while. he actually perched on my knee and made sure I was really there. He usually wants to be near us but not actually get held. this time he acted like he didn't want to let me get away. Eventually he settled down and went back to being boss Roo so that means strutting around but not allowing anything as demeaning as being held to happen. He is becoming a real sweet pet.
