yeah well I dont blame you. It was a VERY IMPORTANT CONTEST! Honestly i dont know? I guess i always assumed the white cake was vanilla and the yellow cake was yellow flavored. OH my word what flavors are those cakes? You cant just give things color flavors?!!?!

LOL! That's exactly what I thought when I read that! Yellow cake with chocolate frosting is my favorite. And it's definitely not vanilla flavored.

ETA: Oops, didn't see Sunny's reply until after I posted this. I'll defer to the expert!

ETAA: Whew! Just got through, well, I don't know how many pages! Closer to twenty than ten, anyway. I gotta stay on top of this!

Check out this picture of my bee hive I took a couple of nights ago:



I sent it to the guy I got the bees from and he says it is called "bearding". He says it is a sign of a strong, populous colony just trying to keep cool in the August heat. They have pretty much filled both of those boxes (they're called supers - these ones are known as brood supers because the queen lays eggs in them) with comb, pollen and honey. The bee guy estimates there is 60-70 lbs. of honey in there.

Sledge hammer. A big one. It won't be fun, but it's definitely doable!

BTW I like that cattle panel one, too. I was contemplating a hoop house out of PVC pipe, but this idea seems a lot sturdier.

I was trying to avoid the sledge hammer option, i can't really afford to replace the floor right now... I'll figure something out.

I was planning a pvc one too, but hadn't started yet because I'm not convinced it would withstand the wind. The panels seem much sturdier and should definitly hold up to tougher weather.

Hey Ron you wouldn't happen to know anyone that sells/rents gas powered post hole augers do you? I could really use one to put in the new coop run.

Woohooo, Cacciatore is all healed up from the effects of the bronchitis! She's laying eggs again, with the entire shell, freckles and everything! I was going to get rid of her, but now I'm glad I didn't. That gives me hope for these pullets that got sick at one week old, but still aren't quite old enough to lay yet.

I'm pretty sure I've seen them at United in Carson City. It's at the corner of Deer Run and Highway 50, on the left if you are heading into town. Turn left on Deer Run Rd. (first light) and left into their driveway.

How about... my laptop that I have had 3 mos for NO reason crashed and fried the hard drive. Called Dell, they have never seen this error code with that model. I didn't do anything, it just froze. URGH. All my music from my ipod I have to figure out how to down load that again from my ipod. I did a back up on the 17th for so the most part everything should be able to be retrieved. I just cried! I just put a new hard drive into my old computer yesterday (now my son's for school) because the old computer took a hard landing back in May. URGH! So, that is how I spent my day, is it five o clock yet?
