Nevadans?

I have one neighbor who I owe some eggs for letting us use his drill when ours died. Another for putting up with the noise and I like them. (elderly couple who supply us with holiday goodies last and this year).
One of my co-workers is looking to buy eggs from me so I'm hoping I have plenty of hens.

I have a waiting list of about 20 people. But right now we can only supply 2 standing customers, and I don't want to sell eggs to others then be expected to sell more if I don't have them. When we have extra eggs, I call my dentist friend's office... he has two dental assistants who buy my extra dozens, and a complimentary one goes to the dentist friend. He donated most of the "junk" that I recycled into my coop. We pretty much only had to pay for nuts/bolts and hardware cloth, thanks to him.

Meh, only 3 stars on Amazon, but it's from just 4 reviewers:

This one is 4 stars from 84 reviewers, at $28.05. It says it can light 2-4 hours, depending on output... which really might be just enough to extend the day to what we need.

(Did I mention how much I love Amazon?

Yea I really like the idea that this one can run for 2-3 days without a recharge. Better for the battery if it doesn't get run down too much. This has been a constant complaint I've seen about solar battery pacs so I wanted to stay away from the smaller units which lose their ability to hold power after being run down too much. The reviews for this item look very positive when folks were using just the lights for 10 hours at a time. I only need 4 hours a night and since I'm not trying to run my computer or charge my phone off this battery I should be in great shape. :)

I understand completely (about selling to others who will expect more later). Right now I just want to supply myself. My egg salad sandwich just isn't right. A friend gave us some of her eggs a month ago and I have been craving them ever since. the store bought ones just don't do it for me.

Soon though... I can wait... Yup! I can wait that long...

Hmmm you have a good point on the LEDs. We have the daylight balanced bulbs, but we were going to put them in cheap clip-on desk lamps. Funds are a little low with the heater going, and the lamps are $5 each. I was going to fix some hardware cloth over the bulb. But LEDs would be much smarter.

That's the kind of thing I'd want for Christmas! People think gifts like that are insincere... ok, buying something I USE for all my passions and joys (and taking care of my family is one of them) is MUCH more sincere than the tin of stale popcorn.
Gifts Russ has given me: a heating pad and wrist wraps while I was going through massage school, renewal of my state business license (same month as my birthday), cheesemaking kit, new running shoes. To me, that's totally romantic.
LOL! Yes but you and I are odd Missy. I would much rather get a tool for Christmas over a porcelain... well... anything!

I am so looking forward to that day. I do hope at least one of my geese and ducks (that are still coming) will be female so I have have a few LARGE eggs every now and then too.
Oh and duck eggs are so wonderful in baked goods! YUM!

Thanks for the offer but I don't think I want to drive to Reno just yet for eggs. Now once I'm hooked on them and mine stop laying for a time I may need to take you up on that offer.

I love these little smiley faces (and all the other ones they have too.)

I better get to bed if I am making a run to Fallen tomorrow to Big R;s for a new watering dish for the goslings before I start working on the run again. I have a forum where I've been posting our progress if anyone wants to take a look. "Shed to coop conversion and other projects"
Any suggestions are always accepted. Good night all!

I would be totally fine with walking down to Carrows. However, it will depend greatly on the temperature that day(I wish to keep my ears and fingers into old age!)

I went and looked at your project. Very nice! You're doing an excellent job!

So, tomorrow, you'll be in my town!

I don't remember the name of the thread but I read on here that one woman built a droppings board under her perches and put some of the Sweet PDZ on that board and just took a kitty litter scoop and every day, picked up the droppings. She said there was NO smell. Her coop was about as far from her back door as yours is, so that's something you can consider.

1st puppy went to it's new home tonight.

I told everyone they couldn't leave till they were 12 weeks old but that is this Friday so I let them pick her up tonight.

She took to the young couple that picked her up immediately. I know she is going to a great home since I asked a thousand questions and they even sent me pics of their property. I'm still sad though. *sigh* At least she could have looked sad to be leaving.
Awe, how exciting for her. It's like raising kids, we have to let them get their own lives. Did I miss pictures? We're getting a new Springer Spaniel puppy in two weeks! I can't wait. I feel like Santa is coming early!

Every one sure is talkable around here. I come on when I can and only read because I'm getting so much done right now. Oh and let me tell you all what I'm going through. I'm having a good raccoon issue atm. It's a mother with 2 little ones. They are being very sly and you can't really see them very often, so far only once, but they are here. Leroy has done the danger call twice now. The first time one of the 4 locks was undone on the egg door. We now have master locks on our coop doors. We must use keys to get the flock out. Not good for emergencies but they are safe. We set a small trap, like for squirrels, to capture the babies. Nope, only mom went in there and she brought the bait out so everyone could eat it up, without setting off the trap. I now have a larger trap on order. I really need to get these guys. They are really trying hard to tear at anything they can to get into the coop. Everything has held wonderfully. I can't believe how well it's surviving this attack on them.

Not one bird has been harmed. The egg count did go down to 1 per day but since the locks were put on the coop the count is up to 4 per day. I don't think that's too bad with only 9 birds laying. Of course I'm also getting 1 duck egg every day as well from Princess and another duck egg here and there when the others want to lay one. Right now they don't feel like it because they are in the run and can see the raccoons every night. They lay low and stay very quiet when the raccoons are here.

Anyways, I must get going. I gotta get up early in the morning for work.

Have a good night all.
