Nevadans?

And no one has given me any more listings for the map, either.

I wonder, if I sent my listings to you could you make a map for the southern end of the state...or should we include them with yours?

Looks like we are all set for Saturday @ 2pm! The weather says we might get a few showers but it will be plenty warm enough that snow will not be an issue. I will keep my eyes on the weather report and update you all if that changes. I hope everyone knows that you are all invited! If you are coming and don't have my addy then shoot me a pm and I'll send it to you.
Peeps, vegaschick, and Pam you're all coming too right? JK, it sure would be fun to have everyone there but that's a heck of a drive for cookies. Not that our cookies aren't worth it.

Whoa! That really caught my attention! I was just quickly perusing the posts for the last week and did a double take. Ha! Good one. For a second I got all panick-y like I hadn't heard the question at school and had just been called on to answer.

Would've loved to meet you all but I'm really glad you had a great time without us.

Oh, and by the way....I posted pics of my new layers on the LV thread here. Post #239

Wow, I didn't even know you were hatching right now!
I so wanted to say that chicks might be hatching that day but then I was afraid that they wouldn't hatch and the kids would be disappointed. I thought they were due yesterday since I picked them up at the poultry show last month but I forgot I set them on Sunday, not Saturday, to give them a chance to rest. I thought that your 2 kids would be there too and I could just imagine all 4 of the kids getting all excited for baby chicks just to be bored to tears after staring at a bunch of eggs doing nothing. I'm glad I didn't say anything since I had the hatch day wrong.

what are u hatching?
Marans of course.

I will be able to hatch other breeds once I finish my breeder pens and spring arrives. When I hatch this time of year they are just for me. hehe

All the hens need is one box to lay in. A strange time for hens to go broody though. They are all young'uns I bet.

That's just what I was thinking! How did she keep it a secret with all those chicken folk around?
Hahaha!!! I know! I thought for sure someone would take a wrong turn to the bathroom and discover my incubator humming away. Or just be drawn, zombie-like, to the sound of little chickies wanting out.

I'd be happy to help you out! It would probably be more useful for folks down there to have a separate map. We'll have to get together on it - but not 'til after the holidays. I've just got too much going on right now! PM me a reminder in a few weeks and I'll help you set it up.

Wow, Picasso is gorgeous! I really like the DCs and the Dels, too!

I was hoping we could have one map that covered NV and then you could just link to that map. I also want to include breeders from here and nearby states on the map. We are all busy with the holidays right now but after the holiday crunch is over we can start work on it again. This map will be an amazing resource!!!

Also on the list is expanding our recipe page, adding an event page and starting a breeder list (where we will also link the map). I can add you to the folks that are allowed to edit these pages, if you like, since it would be easier for you to add stuff from Southern NV yourself.

I just had a very vivid flashback! Gee I wish that memory weren't quite so clear! Like those horrible dreams you had as a kid, when you showed up at school in your holey pajamas?

I'd really like to have all the info on one map. That way folks looking for breeders don't have to bounce all over looking for the info. It will be easy to zoom in on one area if someone is looking for only local info won't it?

I'm not the only one willing to drive quite a ways for the breed I want am I? I mean I was considering a drive to Wisconsin last year to pick up marans eggs. Southern NV would be an easy drive by comparison.

Works for me!
Cool! You did an amazing job on the map. Kim loved the idea and put it out to the CA thread so someone did one for her and it has everything on it but she had all the info listed already so it was handy. I hope I'm not asking for too much? We can do a few listings at a time so it's not too much work.
ya well they want NEED babies
Naw. They just think they need babies. They'll be better Moms when they are older. They are showing they are not ready by trying to hatch when it's this cold.

you need to give her her nest box on 28 days and ALOT of hay she should start carring hay around in her mouth

and if she took the buck would have sneezed and fell off
what are u hatching?

I have 3 broodies and I have only 4 next boxes
th.gif

3 broodies???? How many chickens do you have total?

Does she need actual hay, or is straw fine?
And about the buck sneezing and falling off... I just left him in the cage for about an hour so he could do his thing, so I'm not exactly sure. I should probably try to palpate her tomorrow and see if I can feel anything.

Aw yay sunny!!! Love babies :)

Speaking of babies... Mine are definitely NOT silkie showgirls, hahaha. I have nO idea what they are!
Can anyone tell me what the color pattern on the white/gold one is?
Otherwise the other two look barred!
