Can anybody give me any ideas that could be wrong with one of my girls. She has got white runny poo, sticks to her butt. She has very pale combs. She lays around a lot. She is very thin, but she drinks water and eats a little....only things she likes. There is no egg bound. We soaked her last night in the bathtub, because I thought maybe it was gleet butt. She seems to be going poop alright, it is just runny and white, and sticks to her feathers. She is also fluffed up all the time. I tried to feed her what I read about gleet butt, but she won't eat it. We gave her corn on the cob today and that is all she will eat....she has been working on it all day, while she lays in front of it. Would appreciate any input on the problem.
I love watching broodies. I have several right now and can't wait to see chicks. Some will go straight to a brooder, but my Game hens are going to be able to keep theirs with them. They are such great mothers. I had amean crazy Dom once that was the best broody I ever saw and she was stern momma too.Sounds like the classic case of Vent Gleet. I think you're on the right track.
Oh my goodness let's just call me crazy now. Actually I think the hospital already did. Anyways, I'm changing my flock a bit. I found someone who wants chickens and will not kill nor eat the ones I'm thinning out. I know which ones are staying and which ones are not. Boy was that hard but it's still the same ones after a week now so I guess I'm happy with that. I met up with Sunny today and picked up 2 baby chicks and put them with Amanda, yep, she's staying. I think if a chicken could cry she would have. I got scared at first because she was so mean. I thought for sure I did the wrong thing but nope, she was teaching them her different sounds but boy did it worry me when she raised her cackles at them and pecked them into a corner. Found out she wanted them under her. She didn't do anything hurtful just very stern they had to listen to her. Less than an hour later they were eating and drinking and she was cooing and watching every move they made all while still sitting on unfertilized eggs. I do believe this was the best thing I could have done for her and for myself. I needed something to bring me up and what can bring anyone up but of course, baby chickies! Thanks Sunny.
Missy, I'm almost normal again and it's only been a week. I must say I get very tired during the day and it's still hard to sleep at night with all this moving going on inside me but at least I know I will get through this in a few months. I don't believe my flock would have survived if it wasn't for Missy and Russell coming and taking care of them and this may sound strange but Thank You Very Much for taking the eggs. I couldn't sell as many eggs since John left Boomtown and then I go and quit my job and alas, abundance of eggs to be had. I hope they went to good people or causes.
