Yea DH was talking about that yesterday and I was shocked! Thought it was the one just past Hallelujah Junction. I said "What! I just passed it this afternoon and it was still up!" Then he said "Oh wait, wrong tree. This one's in Clark County."

Sorry to the Clark County folks who lost their tree!

Sounds odd and it is. It's a tree that a whole lot of people have thrown pairs of shoes into over the years. Not sure how it got started since our tree, north of Reno, is right on 395 (on the California side) and there are no pedestrians walking around up there on the highway. It's no where near any schools of any kind.

Ha ha! You keep posting when I'm typing.

Might have something to do with the fact that I type so slowly!
Don't know who it could be. It sure is irritating! A lot of us treasure our unique landmarks like this one.

I remember those days! I homeschooled my DD for several years and my DS for a short time too. Sometimes I swore I had the slowest kids on the planet.

(I meant speed of movement not brain power

). Just tell them they can't go to an event they are really looking forward to until their school work is done. They are speed demons then!!!

We have tried all sorts of motivational tactics, the only one that seamed to work is to set a watch in front of him and tell him it has to be done by this time. He absolutely loves dungeons and dragons and Adam said if you get your school work dune we will play, no luck. He is the biggest procrastinator I have meet!

It always feels like that when you are the parent waiting but trust me, I taught in public school and the non-procrastinator is the rarity!

The tree was out on hwy 50 I believe.

According to the news, the tree started when newly weds had a disagreement. One threw the other's shoes into the tree, when they kissed and made up, they threw the other's shoes into the tree too. Then others started. It was a huge, huge cotton tree.

When I first heard the story, I also thought of the one on 395.
