Just been busy with DH home and the weather warming up. Got chicks popping out, the bator is full and I have cochin bantam eggs coming out my.............ears.

How is your bator running?

I have been trying to get my second one up and running. The bleepy thing has temp swings of 15, yes, 15 degrees

So I am going to have to replace the thermostat thing-ama-bob - until then no staggered hatches. Thank goodness for the broody, who took the first batch of staggered eggs

I would love to get a large huge bator - but honestly what would I do with all those chicks????? Sell a bunch I guess.

It's a HydroFarm digital heat mat thermostat (made to use with seedling heat mats) but it is working great and will go up to 108 degrees, so it will cover the higher temps of a bator easily. It also has a probe that can be placed anywhere in the bator with a suction cup (I did add a piece of duct tape though) so you can take your temp readings at egg level. It was only $27.56 (shipping was free) and I've been checking it against a normal thermometer that I know is exact and it has been right on target. Good thermostat, cheap price, my kind of find!

Now off to find an element that puts out a liitle better.

I've been reading but not posting. Slammed right know, I have to get Rion caught up on school while the internet was down. Then one of my trainers horses got injured. I had to take her in to the vet and am giving her antibiotics 2x day, changing her bandage every 3dr day. She goes back in on Thursday.
