ugh, i did the nono thing and candled on day three. i know its too early to tell but i literally see absolutely nothing in any eggs except one egg where i saw a little black dot floating around wildly.
how do i tell myself to knock it off and not get discouraged??
I know it is hard - but you can do it! I worried when I candled early and saw nothing - in a bator full of eggs. Then when I candled just a day ago, all the "clears" had good veining and a chick starting - which first looks like a dark fish eye to me or a small black pea.
The floating black spot could be a meat spot. Or could be a chick depending upon where you saw it.
Plus yours eggs are shipped correct? Treat them like they are fragile bits of fluff that will blow away if you touch them too much. Shipping takes a hard toll on eggs.
Here is a chart that shows chick growth. Be GOOD and reward yourself on day 7 and/or day 10 with a candling.
I was on day 12. They are due to hatch Feb. 14th - which is not something I planned, just happened that way. Mine are my own (well my own chicken eggs, not my own eggs
) and they are bantam also - the silver laced cochin and mille fleur.
I am so sending you good hatching vibes
eta: my chicks look no where near the size of the chart chicks - I am not sure why - they never have. I have wondered if they "enlarge" the chick a bit to show detail.
it just kinda stink cuz in all the pictures i am seeing there should be at least SOME veining by now. I think i may have seen some very very mild veining in ONE EGG out of the 29, in all the others i just see a big dark yolk floating at the top of the egg.
I just think you are early. Seriously, these showed nothing and I almost threw them out - I have bantam eggs piling up and thought heck I can start over sooner rather than later BUT I am lazy
so kept them in and they are veining with chicks now. Patience grasshopper - as my DH says.
Sunny - I think I got that chart off BYC - a thread somewhere or a sticky
stolen cause I knew I would never find it again - so I saved it to the computer
