Nevadans?

Oh no!!! I lost a huge part of my flock to my own dog once (DH left the pen door to the run open, long story). I know how heart wrenching that is! There are lots of Vegas folks on this thread (where are ya'll?). Maybe they would hatch a few for you for a fee. It is always a little worrisome, hatching other folks eggs though. So many things can go wrong and it's much harder on a body when it's someone else's eggs. Genny hatched some for me and even though I told her not to fret if a bunch (or all) didn't make it but she still stressed about it. I shared the hatch with her as payment (but I think she got mostly boys).

I hope you find someone with a bator for sale or someone to help you hatch!

I have a quick favor to ask of everyone. I was trying to update the first post and started to go through the back pages to make sure I hadn't missed anyone but this thread is too long now and I got frustrated. Can you all just check to make sure your name is listed on the opening post? THANK YOU!

Oh I had an idea! I wanted to add a little moniker to everyone's name in that list. Like Horsefeatherz would be "Momma to all chicks far and wide", Peep_Show would be "Comedienne", Penturner would "Serama King", Gaited Horse would be "MIA", Ron would be "One armed bandit" (like he's never heard that one before), etc, etc. OK maybe not the overdone ones. Like I get all the time "you sure aren't cloudy!" or "But it's dark out" or variations on this theme (and no offense but everybody who says something along these lines acts like they are the first to have ever said it and... trust me, after 50+ years on this planet you aren't the first).

What do you think? If you like the idea give me suggestions for yourself or others here. Thanks again!

Hey everyone (well NW NV folks anyway

) - I heard on the radio this AM that S&W Feed in Carson City is having a "Chick Day" this Saturday. Everyone who purchases a bag (don't remember if it was 25 or 50 lb) of Purina Start 'n' Grow will get 5 FREE chicks!

Also a rep from Purina will be there for a workshop on raising a healthy flock.

S&W is easy to find - just take the 395 Fwy S to the last exit (Fairview) - go west (right) to Carson St./395, go south (left) and they are right there on the right. They are also having a "Chicken Meeting" tonight at 6:00 PM. Don't know what that is about.

Awesome!! That's where I got Darla and Lucy! This works out perfectly- if I only get one chick I an run down and get it a few friends to keep it warm.
Do you know if it's on Sunday too?

Tumblweed: I'm so sorry about your girls- I hope you find someone to help you..

I'm in Henderson, have a homely but reliable incubator and LOVE to hatch...but cannot keep chickens at present. (Still working on it with the HOA) How many eggs and when do you expect delivery? My only caveat is I have a biz trip March 26, so project would either have to be completed before then or started the week after as I don't like to leave eggs unattended. For a nominal fee to offset added electric bill costs, I'd be happy to help out....eggstatic even!

So sorry about your loss....We have coyotes that infiltrate our gated community regularly. No rabbit problems, though....but not cats, either.

Hmmm.... One little correction to my home location is needed. But then, of course, I've on occasion been accused of being "not all there" in an altered State.

Sunny: Honestly, never much thought about your name and weathery implications. I just liked it and think it's cute-n-cheerful. However, should you have a sibling named Stormy there might be deeper issues with your folks.....

That's a good point Dawn, I had never thought of that. I would love to know if anyone had an incubator that I could purchase!

The craziest part of the whole coyote attack was that our favorite girl, Snowball, a BO, made it out without a scratch. She is truly our pet, so I'm thankful for that!
