nope guys, nothing at all, not even a peep or a cheep.

Im really sad but i have decided that i will not ever do shipped eggs again. I do want to try some of genny's eggs because i know they will be reliable, but that will be a little while in the future. ya see, my brooder is going to be a little full BECAUSE....


I found someone on e-bay who was selling showgirl eggs, and she had EVERY SINGLE COLOR under the sun! i couldnt believe it! i have not found anyone with both showgirl AND partridge before..plus she has pocelain and splash too! So anyways I sent her a message doubtful but hoping asking if shed be willing to ship chicks sometime in the future. She asked what i was looking for and i told her.

and guess what? she has ONE partridge and ONE buff 2 week old chicks! She also has two porcelain and a bunch of splash!

they should arrive on tuesday

so i am extremely sad that i havent gotten to experience the hatching thing (okay INCREDIBLY SAD.) i am happy i will have what i have been searching for forever and that brooder will not go to waste

i still cant wait though to hatch some eggies. Maybe in spring when temps are more stable. This house is much colder at night than in the daytime. I seriously have dreams about hatching. it seems like such and incredible experience.

eta, funny thing? the showgirl thread peeps pointed me in her direction after i had talked to her already. turns out shes a byc member!

This is for Jeepers and Jabbers..what a pair!
Julie has been waiting very patiently.. Soon, now, they can tear through the snow together, bury and dig up each other's bones. go get those jackrabbit roadkill patties and terrorize the kitties again...Jabber was the best friend Julie ever had and I think that goes both ways..And you can't tell me that Dogs do not go to heaven!!!

All these kind people are right..Jabber had a great life and he was lucky to have you guys..Doesn't make it any easier but look forward to the next fortunate soul that will come into your life...I am!

Maybe you could try hatching the Trader Joe's eggs for "cheep" (couldn't resist

) practice, and, of course, the experience of having chicks hatch!

There's a whole thread on the "TJ Hatching Club (are you a member)" forum. Now that I've found out CostCo has been stocking fertile eggs, too, the temptation is *almost* too much to resist.... (Of course, my thorn here is where would I put them afterwards?)

Anybody need any eggs hatched out?

As far as hatching goes I think Genny's eggs are more reliable and certainly not any more expensive than TJs. Ok Ron, fess up. What's the obsession with Trader Joes eggs vs. our beautiful eggies?

Good save! But I meant to hatch and I eat mine all the time. Although after finding out that marans eggs sell for up to $45 a dozen in France I do feel a little guilty!!! But not too guilty since they are devine!

And Aubrey the answer is yes! If one hatches out you can take one of mine, due to hatch in 3 days, for company!

well i tried the "late candling method".

Came home and turned on the master bath water. ALL OF IT on HOT HOT HOT. two sinks, bathtub, and seperate shower. Took inky-bator in there and candled, keeping an eye on my hydrometer- it never went below 70 *phew*.

i think the tapping may have been in our heads. There are no pips and no movement in the candling. One of them looked like it may be turning into a bloodring kind of...the other three were still veiny, but no movement. Is there a chance they could have run out of air? i mean if they were trying to get out last night and broke the membrane, and couldnt pip...could they have suffocated?

i cant wait to hatch some NON shipped eggs *le sigh*.
