Yes birdygirl the white feathers (hopefully) will disappear with the first major molt at around a year of age. One of my girls had a few and they did not grow back in white.

I have some fertile eggs Aubrey if you just want some to practice on.

That would be really awesome, I will just need to have homes for the little ones if any hatch. Or maybe cl will sell them just fine. How much would you want for eggs and what kid would they be? Or maybe if I hatch em I could just give em back a you could sell them? I don't know what the best thing to do would be but I do know that I really need some practice before I go spending another 100 bucks on eggs again!

I charge $3.00 a dozen for mixed eggs and that's what I charge whether people are eating them or hatchin 'em. They would be a mix of EEs and Ameraucanas. You can sell or give away whatever hatches.

Stacy no pips yet for my easter hatch! They should hatch today!

They will probably be pipped by the time I get done with errands today.
If not, I do have 1 and a half week olds that I can let you have. They are still at a very cuddly stage.

I sent you a PM re: the chicks.

Well, today was the big day! I finished the ramp to the new coop (dubbed The Poultry Palace) and had left the run and gone over to the people door. I was spreading straw around in it and the girls started coming up the ramp one by one to check it out.

It was great - they were so excited! They immediately started scratching around rearranging the straw and just could not stop cackling. For the next hour and a half they stayed in the PP and I could hear them scratching around and non-stop bok bok bok bok bok bok bok. It was the talk of the flock!

So while they were busy with that, I brought the juveniles in and put them in the old run. It's completely inside the new run so it was good the older girls were occupied! Made the whole process a lot easier. So cute - I put one of the Ameraucana/EE's (what is the difference anyway?

) in there and she turned around and flew back up into my arms like "No! I want to go back to the brooder! Don't put me in there!"

They seemed to settle down pretty quickly though. Within an hour they were scratching around and acting all chickeny.

One sad note: I had to euthanize my cross-beak Ameraucana.

She just wasn't getting enough to eat. She was half the size of the others and even smaller than the 4 BO chicks that are 4 weeks younger. Bye bye, CB!

Sounds like your girls had a blast with their new mansion. I cannot wait to see pics of the inside. Sorry to hear about CB, it is never easy to make that decision but we have to think of them and not ourselves. Just know you made the right choice. *hug*

I separated out the dinner roos yesterday and of course it has to start raining the second after I get them in the front run with no shelter. I figured it would be no biggy since we had planned on doing the deed on Sunday but I just talked to my Dad and he wants to put it off until next week. I really do not want to do this without him but my poor girls cannot take the zealous affection anymore. They just never give the girls a break anymore. Maybe I will build a temp shelter tomorrow.
