Nevadans?

I could wait and see if you get a chicken friendly place. Besides mama has her babies and she loves them so much. I don't want to et rid of anyone and if I could save up enough money to get a second coop that would be great too. Right now everyone fits perfectly but someday there will be mama, two Cochins, the maran, and the four polish going in too, lol. I guess my addiction got out of control haha. The only reason I would part with mama and gyp is because it might feel nice for you to have at least a few of your old babies back. It would be sucky if you had to give them away again.
I guess I'm trying to say that no one HAS to go but if you guys are interested in someone I'd be willing to part with some of my newest flock members but only to you guys who I trust.

Whew - you're talking chicken math again. You had me worried there for a second!

I'm just really broke right now and wont work until next month. Shouldn't be a problem after that though. I am going to have to see if I could build one myself though to save money. What do you think Ron? You're a dude- Is building stuff hard? Marks no carpenter so I think I'd be on my own...

I've answered a lot of questions on the Coop & Run - Design, Construction, & Maintenance forum by people in exactly the circumstance you are in: no construction experience and no one with experience to help them. And I can tell you that most of them end up successfully building a coop! After all, we're not talking the Sears Tower or the Taj Mahal here - it's a chicken coop! So yes, I think you can do it - it will be fun and you will learn a lot along the way.

Pretty cool there Aubrey, don't forget my DH can help you build one too once he gets ours finished.

Hey guess what everyone - yesterday my pullet Martha layed her first egg, it was a pullet size egg or pee wee size but it was so cute and then today my other pullet Patty layed her first egg but she did it in the run instead of the nest so hopefully she'll get the hint of what those little nest boxes are used for?

The egg on the left is Martha's from yesterday and the egg on the right is from Patty who layed it today! I'm so stoked it isn't even funny, okay it actually is funny!

Yes Aubrey, you could do it easily! it's a great first construction project and DH and I (yes I can still help some) could help too since you like the design of our coop so well. In fact there are a couple of things I would do differently to improve on that design!

The pallets are SO easy to work with! We just built a small one (about 4x12 including the run) for my polish so we can go on vacation next week without having the person taking care of everyone having to bring them in and out. They're fast little suckers! We screwed the pallets together, ran wire along the inside and top and then cut a 4x8 piece of plywood, cut in half, along the top and then down to make a coop with a run. With some lumber we had laying in the yard we made a little nesting shelf and added a roost. They love it and it was under $20 bucks and we...well mostly my husband, did it in half a day!

I have two pallets sitting in the backyard right now! I suppose I could go buy some 2x4s and try to make a frame on Wednesday when I'm off work
