I like the raiders, but Im not sure about that kind of devotion. I'd love to get one of Denny Hamlin;s #11, but those Nascar guys change numbers a lot. Im actually doing what you did. I want one, but Im worried I wont like it when I get older. So Ive waited, and waited. Eventually I might find one I'll like forever. You should get a tattoo now, and shock your children.

I think the show is put on by the Northern Nevada Poultry Fancier's Association. And it is at the Livestock Events Center.

Hey folks I am in San diego but have been wanting to move to reno, sparks to be closer to my mom. I will be driving up sept 16-19 to visit. I breed SQ seramas. Me moving up there is pending my fiance getting a transfer to one of the areas three costcos. We will see, is keeping chickens more difficult in reno with the snow???

No chickens aren't harder to raise here but you do have to build differently. Like during storms (huge amounts of snow are very rare) I will wire some plywood to the west fence of their run to stop the snow from blowing in. I raised the coop so they can move around free of snow in there but some folks will just cover an area to give them room to wander around. The heat takes a toll on them more than the cold. They need extra TLC to deal with the really hot days (which we haven't had many of this year). In Reno proper it almost never gets below 0 degrees and chickens are fine down to 0 degrees (although I hung a light over their water to keep it from freezing). It's not too difficult to make these adjustments for them.

You may have a harder time adjusting from the gorgeous, even temperatures of San Diego than the chickens do.

One of our Reno folks on this thread, Penturner, raised seramas for a while. Maybe he could give you more info on how they did in this weather.
