Hey Reno people!

I'm up in the Northwest, near Verdi. No chickens yet but hopefully soon

On that topic, I've been thinking of getting some day old chicks shipped here from Ideal. Do you think it would be too cold during shipping?

I don't know which way they would ship them; through CO & UT up I-80, I-10, or I-40. If the 2 southern routes I would think that they would be fine, but you might want to ask Ideal. I know that I'm not a Reno person but nobody else seems to be around so I thought that I would at least give you some feedback.

If you want to do it now, you should before the storms really kick in. In Lemmon Valley it was soo windy these last few days!

Good luck!!

At 18 degrees this morning, I don't know, but I would be concerned. Another option for you might be looking into an ad I saw on Craigslist the other day. There is a guy in Truckee with an incubator and access to fertile eggs offering to hatch for free. Don't know if I am supposed to hyperlink but the ad was posted on 11/12/09 titled "!!Baby Chickens!!" Only drawback might be getting pullets unless they are sex-links. Just a thought
