Nevadans?

LOL - Yes, I do believe we have! Plus don't forget the ones Sunny posts on here too! Okay Tyler, I must head off to bed now. I get to sleep in tomorrow finally but usually that means I'm awake by 6am. I hate it when my body won't let me sleep and then when I need to get up to go to work my body says no!

I love them all! I'm laughing really hard right now.

Well, now what do I do. I'm thinking it's not a good time to introduce babies to Wynnie right now. She was off the eggs this morning so I put her back in with the ladies. She pecked around a bit and ran back into the coop and sat in the nest box. I went and got the fake eggs and put them in there with her. Then it became egg laying time and a couple of the other ladies (Patty & Martha) booted her out of the coop so they can lay their eggs in her nest box, she's now running around with the rest of the ladies who are not laying yet today. Is this something you just don't worry about, she might get back on them later once they are done but if this was real eggs she was hatching then this would be a disaster so to speak. If they can boot her off the nest with fake eggs then what would happen if she had babies?

honestly sheryl i would say its much too soon to give eggs to your broody, especially if its her first time. Just think, a broody sets eggs for three weeks before having babies. Those three weeks tell us whether shes really dedicated or if shes a quitter. I dont know if there are ill effects to giving a broody chicks after only a week or so but im not sure i would risk it. especially if you dont plan on segregating the chicks and mom from the other birds. Id say go the rout of the brooder. its more fun that way anyways because the chicks become more attatched to you personally. my broodys babies dont like my but my brooder babies loooooove me

I'm thinking the same thing. Well, it was a nice dream while it happened and I do think she's just too young and not ready right now. Thank you though, I truly appreciated your help.

she will probably make a great momma some day. you know...when you really need her to help you raise all those other babies that you KNOW youre gonna want this spring!

Yep for sure, there is no way she can have chicks in the coop with her and that's why I put her in the brooder last night but today when she was off the eggs then I knew there was an issue. And then when the other ladies were able to get her off the nest then I knew it's not going to work and it would put the chicks in danger for sure. The ones I'm getting in spring will be older though and she won't be raising them but all is still good with me. Thank you again Aubrey.
