my dad's favorite advise when i was hatching was to just leave everything be. he told me that the good ones would hatch and the bad ones wouldnt. lol i never listened though!! i couldnt. i still candled them all once halfway through because of those scary stories or bad eggs ruining te others. But ireally thnk you shouldnt stess too much over this. And dont worry, im sure theyll be fine and healthy.

Sunny, ive never seen a real life serama either. only pics.

Well half way through day 3 and so far I have been good about leaving them alone. I have to open the bator every three hours and have been watching it like a hawk. I have not had this incubator for 21 days much less trust it to run for that long without fail. I have back up everything setting on a shelf just above it. Including two spare computer fans. so far it is working like a charm though and only looses about half a degree in temp when we turn the eggs. I will candle at 7 days because there is so much chance of having bad eggs. I hate the whole shipping of eggs thing. I will either have to do it one more time to get some other birds from a different blood line or locate an adult pair to start producing my own eggs or something. I just always count it as a dead chick if an egg gets damaged. i don't think many people would keep ordering chicks if they came with 50 to 100% fatalities. Hopefully I will get some silkies out of these eggs. so for the Blue or Black Silkied are my favorites of all the Seramas I have seen.

I didnt even know seramas came as silkies! lol. And it would suck to have tham all die.

its would be hard on the kids too, but with the seramas being so expencive, there should be some sort of garentee from the breeder that at least 90% of the eggs arrive safe.

That does stink. I have shipped eggs in the bator right now too. I got a dozen shipped...two were broken, and all were pretty shaken up. I let them rest for 24+ hours before setting them. I left them in a carton with holes cut out the bottoms, big end up. When set, they all had air sacks in place. At day 10 I candled and had to toss 4 more due to blood rings. I lost most of the ones I wanted most already.

So...I'm already at 50% and lockdown isn't until Tuesday.

The main difference in our situations is that I got these eggs for the price of shipping so I'm not out that much ... but STILL! It stinks! I feel your pain.
