Hi Aubrey!
sorry I didn't get on here sooner, been a bit busy, okay REALLY busy with show preparations!! Your hen should get her feathers in order herself, DON'T put foreign oil on her. If she has a few tail feathers messed up just hold her(somehow) with one hand and wet your other hand and smooth the feather(s) in the direction they should go. we do this alot with rooster sickle feathers that get twisted or dry crooked, but works with any feathers.
She should distribute her natural oils on her own with her preening by Saturday, and yes you should have kept her inside until the show BUT don't worry, you can also wipe the dust off of her Friday night before you bring her to the show. Just use a very soft towel that attracts dust and you can also use the blow dryer to dust her off too if she is really dirty. then wash/wipe her feet off, you CAN use vaseline on her comb, waddles and face area as well ason her legs RIGHT before the show. Don't use too much and I use my fingers to massage it in then wipe off excess and don't get on her feathers if possible. How does she look today???
Looking forward to seeing you and your girl at the SHOW!!!
