Nevadans?

Hi Aubrey!
sorry I didn't get on here sooner, been a bit busy, okay REALLY busy with show preparations!! Your hen should get her feathers in order herself, DON'T put foreign oil on her. If she has a few tail feathers messed up just hold her(somehow) with one hand and wet your other hand and smooth the feather(s) in the direction they should go. we do this alot with rooster sickle feathers that get twisted or dry crooked, but works with any feathers.

She should distribute her natural oils on her own with her preening by Saturday, and yes you should have kept her inside until the show BUT don't worry, you can also wipe the dust off of her Friday night before you bring her to the show. Just use a very soft towel that attracts dust and you can also use the blow dryer to dust her off too if she is really dirty. then wash/wipe her feet off, you CAN use vaseline on her comb, waddles and face area as well ason her legs RIGHT before the show. Don't use too much and I use my fingers to massage it in then wipe off excess and don't get on her feathers if possible. How does she look today???

Looking forward to seeing you and your girl at the SHOW!!!

Good morning all! Hold on to your hats today!

Sheryl how is Monique looking today? Is her comb healing? Unfortunately I have had to deal with this before. Combs usually heal pretty fast.

Just want to extend an invitation to all the Nevadans on our list here to come on down to the Poultry Show SATURDAY!!! You will not be disappointed. We have a bird entered into every class this year! We have folks coming from Utah(hope the weather holds out). At last count we have over 50 Exhibitors and right around 400 birds entered!

There will be live blue grass music, trees donated from the Garden Shop Nursery, Straw and supplies donated by Feed World and a livestock feed vendor will bring supplies. There is a BIRD RAFFLE, Poultry Sale AREA and RAFFLE items to win!!!

Also this year we will hold a first annual MARANS EGG SHOW!!

So there will be lots to see, we can use volunteers for set up on Friday morning, or Clerking on Saturday(Clerks walk with judge while he judges the classes of birds and you will learn alot about the breed standards and how to judge birds to a standard)

See YOU there!!!

OMG can you believe I entered 25 birds into the show? (Dutch, Seramas, Cochins, Runners, Calls, and Muscovys!)

Thanks Sunny, her comb looks exactly like it did when I got home yesterday so there are no changes on it. She's running around with the others right now as if there is nothing wrong with her. I know she's not in pain.

I'll be at the show tomorrow to set up the table once I find our area. I do not know where it is or what time we need to be there on Saturday but hopefully I'll find out everything tomorrow and then I'll post it on here. Genny are you thinking of coming to the show for a bit too? It would be nice to see you again.

I am really hoping to make it to the show.........I wanted to show this year - but my hatching timing was a bit off. So I would like to see what I might be up against next year - in both Orpington and MF Bantam Cochin.

I hope you can get here, I would love to come get you and bring you myself but the timing of it I'm sure about.! There is always a way though but not risking lives that's for sure.

Thank you julie! Mamas tail feathers are not 100% back in order today but they do look A LOT better and now i feel A LOT better, lol.
I went out to take pics of her and ended up taking pics of the entire lot. I figured y'all wouldnt mind, haha.

you can kind of see her tail in this pic. it doesnt look as bad in pictures but the top tail feathers have kind of wandered out from the "fan" and are split
