Nevadans?

I just hit all mine with cattle dewormer. Just incaseies. But if you need any help dosing all those birds let me know!!!

And since were on the topic of what we have to share, I've got a freaking hospital in my fridge if anything ever happens to anyones special pet...

Tetracycline for sneezing birds
Wazine for worms
Bayrocin tablets- a really gnarly antibiotic for birds, only found through vets or online
Pennicillin (injectable)
Cattle dewormer
Terramycin antibiotics for eyes
Piperazine (dog and cat dewormer)
Saline solution for eyes
Baby aspirin
Baby food
Poly-vi-sol

I keep these in a special part of my fridge. They are all from the Petey thing so if anyone has a raccoon attack vet Aubrey will be right there!

Great idea Aubrey! Genny, I'll be more than happy to help you with the worming as well. You have a big flock there and I know it will keep you busy trying to get everyone the medicine.

At what age should I think about deworming? Mine are just 9 weeks old. I'm thinking maybe not until spring for them or maybe older? They don't have access to the ground yet, they are just in the coop since I haven't made their run yet.

good luck with the bath, aubrey!

I was told not to deworm before nine months old or something. I hit mamas babies, they are six months old-ish but i didnt do the polish who are maybe two and a half-three months.

okay, mama actually did REALLY WELL! im am very surprised and felt like we got to bond

when i pulled her out of the coop she didnt scream or make a fuss like she usually does. (which i was fully expecting because i had to fight her tooth and nail to get her out of the coop for dusting/worming yesterday) She just gave me a couple of bawk bawks and didnt struggle or fight me or even puff up. then when i got her into the bath i was also expecting a fight and she just sat there. It was really hard to get her wet though! her feathers were so shiny and beautiful that i was just pouring cupfulls of water on her and they were just running right off. I finally had to pick her up and put her under the faucet and work the water in. The blow dry was what i was most worried about. I sincerely thought the noise would freak her out but she loved every minute of it. So now shes all curled up in the crate preening herself with the heater by the crate. I honestly think she looked better before the bath, so hopefully once she gets her feathers in order and starts oiling herself she will be pretty again

Elizabeth, I think you should wait on de-worming your flock until next year. You should be okay unless you get those nasty flies all over the place then I would worry and will do the worming at that point in time. Your flock is just way too young right now. The earliest I've heard anyone using the worming medicine is 4 months of age and my flock were all 5 months old and older when I did it. None of the younger ones had any issues with the medicine so all was good there. I only gave them 1/4 cc because they were the size of bantams then.

now that her feathers are dry her tail feathers no not look as good as they did before. The main top tail feather looks all frazzled and not right.

i think she looked much better before the bath. I put her back outside too. now i think i was dumb for doing that because she has no oils to keep the dirt off! oh well, hopefully by saturday morning she will be back to normal
