Aubrey, you'd be surprised how easy it is. I'm waiting for my spine surgery to be scheduled and while I was waiting for the surgeon to call from San Francisco I built this bar for my wine bar. It was SO easy. I also have a torn shoulder so I can't use a skill saw but we have one of those chop saws and it's SO easy to cut the wood. I used that and an electric screwdriver! And a square! Sunny's right about being square and cutting accurately so everything matches up. I had to fit our kegerator (you can't see our 6 taps, they're behind the wine keg) in the bar with only a 1/2" on each side and it slid right in. After I got done with the bar I was like, what else can I build! My husband was out of town and came home and saw the bar an said, I think I just lost my garage! SO FUN! Oh and the lumber for the framing was $38 and I have a couple 2x4's left over and then I got the 4x8's from the "cull" pile at our local builders supply for $50 and I still have enough to make more tabletops! I would try to get doors, windows, roofing and even siding off craigslist but I wouldn't get old lumber, that's too hard to work with.

So glad you got that straightened out!

It'll be like an old fashioned barn raising.

A gal after my own heart. My next 2 wishes for tools are a table planer (no I mean a huge table size planer not a small planer that sits on a table) and a wood lathe. Then maybe I'll have enough tools to keep me busy for awhile.

Thanks Sunny, we could have some fun if we lived closer! Every year for Christmas I ask for a tractor! My husband refuses because he knows the property would be excavated every day! So now he asks what I want for Christmas...besides the tractor.

DEAD HORSE THEORY - The tribal wisdom of the Lakota Sioux, passed on from generation to generation, says that, "When you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount." However, in government, education, and in corporate America , more advanced strategies are often employed, such as:

1. Buying a stronger whip.
2. Changing riders.
3. Appointing a committee to study the horse.
4. Visit other countries to see how other cultures ride dead horses.
5. Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included.
6. Reclassifying the dead horse as living-impaired.
7. Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse.
8. Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed.
9. Additional funding/training to increase dead horse's performance.
10. Conduct a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse's performance.
11. Declaring that as the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries lower overhead and therefore contributes substantially more to the bottom line of the economy than do some other horses.
12. Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses.

And of course....

13. Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position.

Cool bar BigDaddysMom!!

I used to watch Modern Marvels when I had TV! I'll have to check it out on Hulu. You're not talking about the small tractor coops are ya? I've seen tons of those. I've just never seen a huge one that is built on a flat bed trailer. I'm kinda scared to do a search on them now. If I see a bunch of huge, glorious Taj Ma Coops, that can be hauled from city to city, then I'll go crazy when I design mine!

Yes that's my dream. To travel, cross country, with my chickens in tow.

Some of my ideas, while fantastic on paper, are just not quite as wonderful in reality. Then again.....

(it's those occasional feats of genius that keep me running amok)

No, I wasn't talking about the small ones. These are ones that have to be hitched to a vehicle of some sort (tractor, pickup, etc.) to move them around. I can just see you going down the road with feathers and straw coming out the back of your "travel trailer"!
