Goodness, looking back at that post about crop surgery, I realized Chloe will be 5 years old this spring.
She came thru this molt wonderfully and I expect her to start laying again probably after January when the light starts to lengthen. Last year, I think she laid well - generally 4 eggs a week.
Don't let anyone tell you that.........ehm.......older birds don't lay.
I have never quarantined my ducks......but then I have not gotten any new ones for close to 7 years. Mine just keep hatching ducklings. They can get external parasites if they don't have access to bathing water. My ducks bathe every day - first thing in the morning when let out of the coop, and then even a couple times during the day. They don't care what the temp. is, and I have even had ducks with ice on their feathers until the sun warms them.
