Cool. You've got a point about the wet spring weather. I should have realized this was for the little one's you have in the house now. We never have room in the garage so stuff is always out in the weather. Sounds like you already have enough to get a huge chunk of this done. Yea go for it! We can start on it soon as the run is done here (should be done this weekend).

Steve would like to wait until the 7th - 9th of January so we can get through the holiday obligations. The last time we bought the wood ahead of time but bought extra then we just took back what was left over (some of the wood will warp anyway and you can just return the worst of these when the project is done). We can certainly work on a materials list before then though. I know you wanted to put the floor together now.

I feel pretty confident about doing the frame ourselves, I think it's the cutting of the plywood and getting the right angles up top for the roof that I'm really gonna be wanting feedback on. I'm not scared to use up-y down-y saw on the 2x4s but I'm scared to use the zoomy saw on the big boards.

Oh god I sound so ameteur, hahahaha

Just wear your safety glasses and measure twice! BTW that's a chop saw (miter saw) and a circular saw. Don't forget that you have to find a window first so you know what size to frame in on that side plus you have a people door, nests and a pop door to frame in. I suppose you can still do that part yourselves if you want. There are plenty of DIY videos on-line for framing in a window etc. But now I feel totally rejected. I felt needed before!

Are you using 2 x 6s on the floor framing? You want something more substantial than 2 x 4s for the floor.

I built the bar for my wine bar with an up-y downy-y saw! And years ago I cut all the boards for our horse barn with one! Scarilally enough, I knew what you were talking about! But you do have to use the zoomey saw on the big boards.....I don't use the zoomey saw...

My mother calls my saws-all the "Magic saw".
Measure twice cut once.
I like to use the one that goes. "I don't know what is happening. I cut it twice and it is still to short".

And... just in case I don't make it back on before the big day... MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you all!!!

Ok, I know I owe you all more pics but here is the tree Aubrey and I picked out. It needs a few more ornaments but that won't happen til tomorrow.

And here are the house lights... They, of course, are even prettier in person.

Ok this is the last of the light pics. Aubrey and I (ok mostly Aubrey since it was on a hill and she can get up and down faster than I can

) strung some solar "fairy lights" on a very large sagebrush plant across from the house. I love how they look!

I still owe you pics of the flock but they will have to wait. Company is coming tomorrow to stay for a few days so not sure when I'll have time to get them. Anyway you all have a great Holiday!!!

The night sky is something else up here!!! The stars are just breathtaking but you probably get that where you are too. At least the last time I visited Paradise I don't remember any smog or "light pollution".
