Ahh, gee, Sunny. Face it. You're just beautiful inside and out!

I'm sorry but no matter how beautiful you are inside and out a colon is not beautiful!

But you are most certainly beautiful inside and out, just not your colon.

I may have more chickies to give away than I had planned because one member on the HOA committee is now throwing a stink about my wanting to raise chickens. This is causing a big divide in the community, but to be expected because he is the neighborhood d**k. (Sorry to be blunt, but this is the guy that rides around on his handicap scooter taking inventory of people's yards....I actually had to deal with his picayune-ish "Jon has 1/4" too much of sprinkler tubing showing.") The Prez is trying to work on the problem, but I have a feeling the target is already drawn on my back for this guy's harrassment....and he WILL make a chicken complaint just to be right. (Instant Karma, where art thou?)

(I have to laugh, though.... The guy would probably stroke if he knew how many chickens have already been in the neighborhood....hehehehhe)

This batch of chicks has the most gorgeous feather-legging. OMG! The Faverolles look like they're wearing those furry mukluks!

the pork recipe sounds delicious! I will have to try that. We have not found any mexican restaurants that we really like here in Reno. It's pretty sad. Even the small ones owned by Mexicans just don't cut it. I think they cater to what Americans think Mexican food is rather than what Mexican food really is. You may find a dish here or there that is good but usually it's disappointing.

the chicks are adorable! good luck with the HOA. what a pain!

My husband has alarmingly good cholesterol levels. His total cholesterol was 132 the last time.

I am working on putting in the big girl roosts in the coop today. fun times working with those nosy chickens in there. It will be interesting to see if they start using the high roosts now or if it will take awhile.

Aubrey, glad your coop is working out so well!

There's some wheaten marans in there, too. And, of course, the clean-legged TJ's egg (Leghorn?) is out front.

Unfortunately, I ended up hatching ALL yellow chicks, so it can be kind of hard to tell who's who. The Marans are considerably beefier but with feather legs. So unless you up-end them and count toes it is hard to say which is which.

Congrats on the egg!

I posted a while back letting everyone know I plan on going as long as the weather isn't really bad. I've done that hill in 0 visibility once, John's head was out the window telling me which way to turn. I went 25 mph without slowing, stopping or speeding up. We prayed no one would hit us and they didn't. boy that wasn't fun at all. Of course the road closed while we were in the middle of this storm. Boy that was so long ago but I'll never forget it ever! I won't be doing that again for sure.

LOL!!!

You crack me up Dee!!!
I couldn't help but notice those beautiful feathered legs on those babies of yours! Very pretty! So sorry that after all you've been through you are still having problems with that horrible HOA of yours. Just come on up here with us. You can have all the chickens you want!

Sheryl you remind me of my students. Once I made a model of a colon out of plastic wrap and rubberbands and was simulating food going through the colon with the help of some cinnamon oatmeal and one poor 5th grader looked up at me and said (with a sick look on his face), "I'm sorry Mrs. Miller but that's just wrong. Really, really wrong!"

I, of course, had thought it was pretty ingenious and thought they would love it! hehe

Congrats on the egg Pam! I am always sooo excited when they lay their first eggs!!!

You'd think it would get old after all these years but it never does.

OMG Elizabeth, I promised you pics then forgot! I'll put it in my phone now so I don't forget again. I got rid of a bunch of roos this weekend so now I am down to 21 birds. Already the coop is cleaner and the water is lasting a whole lot longer! Do you mean Jose's good cholesterol is too low? That is a risk factor for heart disease and I don't blame you for being alarmed or do you mean just the totals are low? The total number doesn't mean a whole lot without the break downs.

I still have 4 more roos (actually 3+ month old cockerels) to get rid of if anybody wants a BCM boy or two.

If not they will be going to freezer camp.

Yea that's us too! I drove over the pass once in white-out conditions with Nate, my youngest DS, with him yelling the whole time "We have to stop Mom!", I kept explaining that stopping on the pass in a blizzard was not a good idea since 1 we had no way to stay warm once we ran out of gas, 2 that other drivers will not stop which means they would plow into us and/or 3 a snow plow would hit or bury us if we tried to pull over to the side of the road. We crept across that pass doing 15-20 mph but we made it.

I can't believe Cal Trans let us through! They were stopping everyone but told us we could go on through because we had 4 wheel drive and all-weather tires. Well that helps with traction but not with vision!!! I never, ever, EVER, want to do that again!

So yes, weather permitting we plan to go to the Stockton show. Depending on finances we may even spend the night.
