Nevadans?

Hey guys,

I have a favor to ask of someone with a pickup truck. I found a place I can get a refridgerator at, when they get them, for free. They are broken or trade-ins. I want to make an incubator for my goose eggs this year. Unfortunately it won't fit in the trunk of my car. The place is in Carson City and I'm in Stagecoach. I am open to discuss any trade negotiations you may put forth.

I may be able to help you. I have a truck and several trailers of various sizes/configurations. You must pay for the fuel (my truck gets about 20 MPG), and supply all of the muscle power (I have a bad back and moving refrigerators is out of the question). We'll have to work something else out for my time!

I decided to change my avatar since everyone else did. It was getting pretty long in the tooth anyway.

I noticed....I've been trying to learn the avatars. So easy to identify everyone by it. OK...so what is your avatar? A bomb? A hot air balloon? Ok, no I'm thinking it looks like a bomb from a submarine?

Guess I need to change mine too. Mine is my girl Dizzy who's been gone for about 8 months.

On the grading of eggs.....and I'll look at my paperwork on Sunday to confirm but I think the direct sale, small egg producer/handler is not a graded egg. I believe you actually have to pay to have them graded. I think you can claim size but but not grade...I think it's all dependent on the volume of production. To allow for the small farmer to sell eggs.

Sounds like NV doesn't regulate direct or farmers market eggs. That's cool.

Sunny, you underestimated the chatty ability of this group! Those 100 posts flew!

Yea I have considered the grading before, but since I'm just selling eggs within the community I decided it would be fine. If I ever started selling them at an actual store it would all have to be federally graded/inspected. I am hoping to get to that point someday, where I'm selling eggs in the stores here in Elko

What's that a pic of Ron?

I'm not happy with my latest avatar but I would need a huge photo shoot at the beach or on a rocky hillside in a forest and some artistic props to start shooting the pics I'd like. I see mystic looking models with huge swaths of filmy material and the results would be over painted for a softer look and treated with an aging technique to make the pics look really old. No young trendy looking models I want faces that speak of many stories.

Hoo boy I think I've been ignoring my creative side too long! I better find time for this stuff soon!

Yeah? That would be awesome! I wondered if you had gotten more pigs cause your title still says "Now raising pigs" on it.

Pam Dizzy is soo cute but yes it's kinda fun to try something new now and then. I love Aubrey's latest! That is such a cool pic!
Let us know when you find that paperwork on the grading Pam. Cause I remembered it as being something you had to pay a lot for too.

Well I lost my golden Feather Membership a couple months ago and didn't change my title before it ended, so it still says that lol

Heya, VegasChick!

Those chicks DO grow fast.... I was amazed in the size difference that was noticeable in the Marans that hatched a day apart. (The Faverolles had their act together and all hatched pretty much on the same day except for one straggler). I'm glad your sister is enjoying them. She is such a joyful person! Please do keep me posted on boys v. girls.... I hope you keep a Marans hen or two for yourself as they're really pretty coloring (and, supposedly, of good lineage).

BTW, the large off-white egg in the carton was FERTILE! Big ol' bullseye. Guess your roo was mega potent....that or there's some rendez-vous'ing and 'splaining to do in your neighborhood! How long ago did he exit the scene?

Now I'm starting to see some combs pop and they're getting feathers on their backs and sides of the neck. At least I don't have to wait for the head to feather but at this rate it seems like the chest will be last. I have a friendly wager on a few with my dad although it's getting harder for him to gloss over some of those combs.

Oops! Sorry about the bulls eye! That egg would be Amelia's. We processed the boys on the 12-23 I think. Not sure how long they are fertile for though the way the two boys were competing she'll probably be fertile for a month of Sundays! I am for certain sure I have no other roos though I do have a hen that used to mount other hens (to assert her authority) and another that tries to crow. So weird!

Sunny: love the pics of your peeps especially the extra coppery girls. I know it's a fault but its so pretty!
