Nevadans?

Non-chicken topic here:
I have a source of grass-fed beef that's cheaper than Murray Ranch! A friend's parents are raising them. They're taking orders now, and say the cattle should finish out at about 1,200lbs. (I'm not sure if that's live weight or dressed out.) I told my friend that I was POSITIVE I could get some people together to go in on a cow. They do the butchering. I was going to offer to help butcher for a cut in price, but they hire someone, so that won't help.

I'm avoiding posting a price on here, even though it doesn't deal with chickens, so if anyone is interested, let me know and I'll PM you the final price. They do ask for a 50% deposit to secure one.

Hi! I posted on here a while back, I got bantams (my first chickens ever, I'm new to them). I was told they were about a year old. I had them for maybe a month or so I am guessing. Every day during that time they laid EACH always laid EVERY DAY (I have 5). About two or three weeks ago I got two new babies - red stars, 2 months old. Right away the egg production declined. I went from getting 5 eggs a day to 3 eggs. I thought maybe the new ones stressed them out or maybe they were upset about it and they would get over it. It seems they have, they snuggle up at night with the babies and they are no longer pecking at them (they did in the beginning). But my egg production is getting worse. Last few days was 2/day, and today was 1!!! Does anyone have any idea what could be going on? And I know its not a space issue...they are in a large run all day and have a huge coop, three stories inside with at least 5 or 6 cubicles across...

1,200 pounds is the full grown before butchering weight. Usually you pay by the pound before the butchering.

What color are their droppings? Are they losing weight? Have you done any de-worming yet? Also egg laying is based upon the thermometer, the hotter it is the less eggs we get. Yesterday I only got 3 instead of 6.

Sandy Valley is kinda the best of both worlds - land and quiet, yet only an hour from all the fun in Vegas!
That's what I thought when I first moved there but I ended up going into "town" less and less until it started being only once every 6-8 weeks. The quiet grows on you!

Um... the invitation in front of me says it's June 22nd. Whew! I had a minor freakout there!

I think the introduction of babies may have triggered their mothering instincts. They have gone broody on you. It should stop after another month or two and egg production will return to normal.
