You got a flat plus 6 right?

Amanda - Let's wait on the de-worming part. Most of us do it once a year here in Nevada since we are so dry here there isn't much issues with worms unless the chickens have way too many. It doesn't sound like that's your issue like the others said, your chickens went broody on you just like my Amanda did on me.

Yeah definetly sounds like they are broody. I looked it up and sounds exactly like them. Even last night when I went to close the coop door those two were still on the first floor nesting, while everyone was at the very top.

Yep, you have broodies.

I know some people wanted to go to the Great Basin Food Co-Op seedling sale last year but didn't know about it. It's this Saturday, 9am-1pm, 240 Court St. Reno, NV. It's all local seedlings. Missy, you might want to check with them if you still have extra seedlings?

Oops, sorry everyone, I fixed the settings now.
Thanks Sheryl, great video! Wow the game cam is an awesome idea! I've always wondered what they were up to in their coop. Saturday I cleaned out their coop and put new straw in it. You should have heard the carrying on! Yesterday I went to water them and they had thrown a pretty fair amount of the fresh straw out into their run.

Hope you all had a nice mother's day!
Here they are! We lost one due to a 4-year-old child's mishap with the heat lamp. Poor little thing got crushed :(

But they got nothin' on my very favorite sort of baby- the human kind! My little guy is 3 months old today!
cute chicks and baby! As much work as babies are, those smiles really make it worth it!
Let's get together at my wedding!!!!
Everyone is invited! It will be at 6:30 at river school farms in west Reno. Doing a dessert potluck, it's gonna be so much fun! Be there it be square!
Oops I missed this on FB too. Can I come with the kids? I make good desserts

Hubby will probably not go because of work.
Can anybody give me any ideas that could be wrong with one of my girls. She has got white runny poo, sticks to her butt. She has very pale combs. She lays around a lot. She is very thin, but she drinks water and eats a little....only things she likes. There is no egg bound. We soaked her last night in the bathtub, because I thought maybe it was gleet butt. She seems to be going poop alright, it is just runny and white, and sticks to her feathers. She is also fluffed up all the time. I tried to feed her what I read about gleet butt, but she won't eat it. We gave her corn on the cob today and that is all she will eat....she has been working on it all day, while she lays in front of it. Would appreciate any input on the problem.
hope she gets better! sounds like others have pinpointed what may be the problem.
I'm glad Amanda took to the babies. I'll have to go back and view the video. Hope you can get some more energy soon and feel better.
I'm heading back up to the S.F. Bay Area just in time to escape the triple-digits scheduled to hit this week....still it'll be sweat work as it's sorting and packing out stuff. It's like eating an elephant one chewy bite at a time....but the carrot at the end of the stick is thoughts of it gets me closer to moving and having a fab coop....and, of course, hatching out the little darlings to go in it. (Yeah, I'm a hatchaholic)

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!!
good luck to you on the sorting and packing.
Ahem SHERYL!!! Ive been asking for addresses on FB for months lady!!! P.S. im an idiot, its June 22 hahaha
oops! must have been scrolling too fast on FB
Non-chicken topic here:
I have a source of grass-fed beef that's cheaper than Murray Ranch! A friend's parents are raising them. They're taking orders now, and say the cattle should finish out at about 1,200lbs. (I'm not sure if that's live weight or dressed out.) I told my friend that I was POSITIVE I could get some people together to go in on a cow. They do the butchering. I was going to offer to help butcher for a cut in price, but they hire someone, so that won't help.

I'm avoiding posting a price on here, even though it doesn't deal with chickens, so if anyone is interested, let me know and I'll PM you the final price. They do ask for a 50% deposit to secure one.
i responded on your FB post. definitely interested in up to 1/4 cow for space reasons. If we had a larger chest freezer I know we'd be able to eat more. my hubby eats a lot of beef.
Hi! I posted on here a while back, I got bantams (my first chickens ever, I'm new to them). I was told they were about a year old. I had them for maybe a month or so I am guessing. Every day during that time they laid EACH always laid EVERY DAY (I have 5). About two or three weeks ago I got two new babies - red stars, 2 months old. Right away the egg production declined. I went from getting 5 eggs a day to 3 eggs. I thought maybe the new ones stressed them out or maybe they were upset about it and they would get over it. It seems they have, they snuggle up at night with the babies and they are no longer pecking at them (they did in the beginning). But my egg production is getting worse. Last few days was 2/day, and today was 1!!! Does anyone have any idea what could be going on? And I know its not a space issue...they are in a large run all day and have a huge coop, three stories inside with at least 5 or 6 cubicles across...
I bet they are broody. You may be able to break some of them. keep taking them out of the nest boxes and such. some will be stubborn though. I've got 2 broodies right now but had 5 going at one time.

that might be fun to check out. I probably technically do not need any more seedlings but...

Great Basin is really a great little place. I love going there and buying stuff once in a while.

Ron - My son kept bugging me asking me what I wanted for Christmas and I couldn't think of a thing. I finally told him to get me a game camera and he said it was too late but what did Dad want and I told him the game camera. Boy was John shocked when he opened his gift to find out it was my game camera I've been asking for. I did make up for all of it and we did have great laughs. I was going to give him my gift from my son but it was all jewelry with the grand children's names on them so that didn't work out. We did laugh really hard and Kevin yelled MOOOOM but in the end everyone got what they wanted for sure and we laughed so hard.
