Nevadans?

My chickens stopped laying eggs over a week ago just like a light switch, eggs one day and then all of a sudden nada. The girls kept making noises like they needed to lay an egg but alas no eggs. I've been stumped this whole time, until yesterday, they decided they're going to lay eggs between 2 tree stumps full of leaves and just keep laying them there for as long as they want to. Now I must teach them to lay their eggs back in the nest boxes. Let me tell ya, I've looked and looked and looked all over the yard trying to figure out if they were laying somewhere but nothing was found. Alberto made sure I didn't find them. He would always make noises on the opposite side of the yard making me think they were laying eggs there. Very smart rooster and chickens. The hens were laying down very low you couldn't tell they were there. I had to really look hard to find them. This wasn't easy. The chickens will need to stay in their yard and get used to laying eggs again in the nest box.

Thanks to Tiff for providing me with an assortment of chicks late last month, they have developed into curious and healthy pullets!

Or you could just keep letting them lay there. Collect the eggs, leaving one or two but with the night time temperatures getting into freezing range, maybe you could put and leave some fake eggs in there for them. That way you know where they are laying.

I thought about doing just that except for the weather issues we are going to have so I really can't do that. I'm not sure how to fix it right now. They have plastic eggs in there but they need to go in there first to see them. lol

I agree you just need to pen them in there for awhile.

Aaaaaw, I love those scrawny little pullets. No matter what people say, I think they look super cute at that stage. And that coop looks like mine!
