Nevadans?

Hi! We live in Spring Creek as well, also over by the Horse Palace. We are expecting the arrival of our third flock. Our dog killed our second flock and a neighbors dog killed our first flock, about ten years ago. So we are starting over for the third time. Our chicks arrive in about 8 days. We have had aracaunas, barred rocks, cornish cross, rhoad Island reds, and on, and on. Our favorites are the wynadottes and the barred rocks. We are looking forward to having a few speckled sussex this time, as well as Buff Orpingtons, which we have never had before. We are hoping our new set up will keep the dogs at bay. We don't seem to have other predators, other than skunks, so hopefully, all will go well this time around.

Hey everyone! I want to start growing some sprouts/fodder for my girls. Does anyone know where I can get some bulk grains that aren't too crazy expensive? Do you think the bulk grains at WINCO would be ok??
I tried Googling for areas in Reno but I couldn't find anything.

I sprout BOSS from winco. Big bag for like 20$. Im sure any animal grade stuff would be fine. Mine love their BOSS a few time a week though. I rotate a couple batches every week. I also do regular mixed sprouts in containers in my kitchen for our family and chickens. The 5 lb container on amazon is lasting forever. It's alfalfa, radish, clover, and broccoli. Very yummy for us or the chickens

Thank you! I'll go see what kind of grains they have! While I was reading up on how good they are for chickens, I came across a site saying they grown them for both their girls and themselves, so now I'm going to try them as well!
By the way, the 3 girls are doing great and are almost ready to go in with the others! The poor faverolle and wyandotte had a little hiccup with laying, lol. Both girls didn't lay for a few days, then both laid HUGE eggs and then stopped. But the marans has been laying like a champ!
