Genny, you have some gorgeous birds there! Versace and Blondie are just beautiful. So is Marion-Berry. Oh heck I love them all! Yeah don't get rid of Marilyn, he would make for some awesome EEs once mixed with John's Blacks. Where does he get that great looking splash of red from? I love it! Thanks for sharing pics. Keep 'em coming everybody!

Thanks Gitlost. I will send him an email tomorrow.

Welcome Bloomie! 'Bout time we had someone from the eastern part of the state on here! You said you live outside of Elko? Hope that means you're not held to that only 2 chickens per household law that Elko has. 2 chickens is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. That wouldn't be enough eggs to feed 1 person much less a whole family! I would have to be an outlaw if I lived in Elko. Anyway thanks for joining us! We'd love to see pics of your birds if you have any.

I'll look him up tomorrow Laceynoelle. What are you looking for? What can I say that's honest without having met him? If you say it, I'll believe it and then I can repeat it without lying.

I love them - corny as it sounds to some

The red leakage on Marilyn I believe comes from his EE heritage, but I am not sure - it's a question I will need to ask in the Genetics sectioin. He was all blue - lived in the house, alone for four weeks - not a complainer. Then Gumpers and Lightfoot hatched, I divided Marilyn's box and put the two little chicks with him - when Lightfoot was less than a week, he jumped out of his little brooder and started hanging with Marilyn. I kept them in the house longer than I should have - I feel bad about that but I had a hard time kicking Marilyn out.

Sunny when the red started on him I almost had fell down. I was walking by the brooder and saw just a smidge of red on Marilyn - stopped to take another look cause I thought maybe a blood-feather had been damaged. Nope just the start of red.

I bet that would be pretty shocking if you weren't expecting it! It is so pretty though! I've never seen such vivid red on a chicken. It's more vibrant than the red of a Wellie Roo, though not as wide spread of course.
And it's not silly to love your chickens. They are fantastic!

Gitlost, I just sent an email to the Marans guy. Hope it works out. With them and the EEs I can easily wait for my order that's coming in April. Thanks again!

okay guys, dad is a good worker because he actually takes pride in his work and fixes things when he rarely messes them up. he does a good job ad the yards are cleaner when we leave then when we get there. (Trust me, ive worked as a ground man.

) And he is really polite to the customers and on time, etc. He'll do a good job because he has some sort of freaky fetish love for trees. lol omit that last part. Thanks you guys.

This'll help a lot i hope.

Omg i had senoir honor orchestra practice today, and it was so fun! i didnt expect it to be, but i got to sit next to Rigel, and it was a blast. These kids are the bst of the best, so they understood the music right away, and we werent stuck waiting whle someone tried to figure it out.

Hi guys (and gals).

26956_imgp4412.jpg

Here a chick, there a chick, everwhere a chick-chick. This is from the batch of about 80 eggs that were due today but some hatched yesterday and already found homes before I had a chance to take a picture. There are several more pipped in the bator so we'll see how the whole batch does. I gave him about 20 buff orp duck eggs at the same time and they, along with around 55 more chicken eggs, are due next Thursday.
