Hello,
I have a chick that was given to me and I live in an apartment. Its really not working out since since its just her she talks a LOT. Shes about a month old. We have some food as well that you can have and scratch. Shes really nice, she just needs companions. Come pick her up if your interested. Shes been inside this whole time by herself so I dont think she has any viral issues or anything of that matter.
I beleave she is a Leg Horne but im not entirely sure. you can call or text me at 775-721-2582 If I dont answer im probibly at work and will call you later.

I'm Guessing this is a chick sombody thought would be cute to have as an Easter Chick, then realized that they turn into chickens

I would take it, but I'm not a leghorn fan, and 2 hours is kinda a long drive for me to pick up a chick.

We had 4 polish chickens - be careful with the heat with them - I recall they are pretty sensitive. Ours were sociable, not fussy and fun to watch and show off. We just loved ours and so did our neigbor kids. They are way too cute. We got ours from the same woman we got our sheep from in Kansas. Drove to pick up sheep, added a few chickens! Diane

The Polish chicks are incredibly cute!

SunnyDawn, Thank you for your suggestion regarding the run. Since our ground is hard and I don't have the stamina for a lot of digging, I've decided to scrape the soil a couple of inches and lay a 3' wire apron on top of some gravel. I think the gravel base may help prevent the wire from deteriorating. My husband will hammer 12" metal stakes into the ground 6-8" apart along the edge of the run and then I'll cover the wire with gravel & heavy rocks. Since my chicks will be locked up every night, I'm hoping this method will be enough of a barrier.

Guess I better get started on the painting the coop before it gets too hot!

Hope all of you have a wonderful day

Today is LockDown day for 8 SLW and 14 Star sex-links. All were moving last night. The ol' Brower brooder is shined and all set up. It was a 90% fertility on shipped eggs.... It would be nice to have similar on hatching. Wish us luck!

best of luck Peep Show. I lost 6 Serama last week moving them to a Hatcher. Those little guys are extremely touchy. We are now going with a plan of just leaving the eggs in the incubator until they pip. still may not move them even then. I have 5 more eggs at day 13 today so am not to far behind you.

Nevada Desert Chick sounds like a great design! Most predators hunt from dusk to dawn so you're decision to lock your coop up tight at night is a good one. The problems I hear about most regarding day time predators are dogs and hawks etc. Sounds like you've done everything you can do to keep your babies safe. Good luck!

Peep Show does this mean the neighbors all signed?!! Congrats and good luck!!!

The neighborhood consensus is still a work in progress..... But all looks promising on that front. My hangup is I have to submit landscaping plans along with coop design.

Actually, none of these birds are designated for my coop. But I wanted to hatch and the time in my work schedule looked fortuitous, so Voila! And I'm REAL happy my industrial brooder is still functioning....if I have to hold onto chicks for any length of time, I can be stealth in my garage.
