That's what I was thinking! I know our thread doesn't gallop along like the AZ thread but we get along, kinda like the turtle compared to the hare.

First pip!!!!

It's a SLW egg... Making all sorts of very soft whistle-y cheeps. I hope to have a nice surprise in the morning.

About 4 hours ago I thought I heard an occasional scratch... Then I could've sworn I heard a - really? this soon? -- peep. Just popped my head in the room during a NetFlix intermission and there it is!!

I came in this morning and the pip looked about the same, but what a chatty little egg! So I peeped back and -- KERBOOM -- pieces of shell are flying off in a rather aggressive zipping. In the last 10 minutes there is a righteous 3/4" and all sorts of banging about on the inside. I can actually hear shell destruction. Guess I'll be here at the bator for the next bit....

Quite a few years back I bought a >$100 incubator and hatched orpington eggs and what fun that was! I didn't have a clue what to do, just followed the instructions and paced. Alas! It worked but nowhere did it say I would hear the peeps peeping up to 24 hours before hatch. Wow, that was fun, entertaining and educational for a city girl! Congrats and continued luck with the batch. Diane

Good Morning all

I was given an older Buff Polish Rooster about a year ago. He had been rescued from the gambling industry and kept here in our valley, all alone, in a large 6'x4' cage for quite some time. So he has lived here for a few seasons and seems to do fine. Our pen is well ventilated and there is plenty of shade so perhaps the new chicks will manage well too. Anyway we thought he was pretty neat and ordered a few hens for him this spring. Of course I also saw the Golden variety and had to have some of those too. I lost two of the Goldens the first day or two though so now I only have three of those. I sure hope I have at least one of each gender. The place I got them from doesn't sex the chicks, so we will see what we get.

Oh and by the way I had four EE hatch last night.

Still 7 to go with no sign of pipping yet

but none of them were due till today anyway so there is still hope.

Sunny, I plan to have polish chicks next spring if you really want some.
