I dont have an incubator.

Sorry for not mentioning this:
The hen setting on the 4 eggs now isn't the same hen that had been setting on the dead chicks
......maybe this hen will be a better egg turner.
I've got 3 broody hens!

This sounds like low humidity to me - I have had a couple under broodies and even under my call duck broodies. I think since our humidity is naturally very low, it affects some eggs - those more fragile. But I am no expert and just throwing my opinion around

Thanks horsefeatherz, i tell my dad about those, any of them sound great. i personally like the blue breeds but i dont think he cares. He just thinks if theyre big they;ll do a better job. lol i'll try telling him that about multiple roosters, but he only has like 15 hens.

Hi everybody! Just wanted to check in before we take off on vacation. You guys are in for a mini heat wave next week, although it's really just finally getting up to my favorite temps. Enjoy!

oohhh those orp EE boys sure are pretty... i like the way the coloring came out..... hhhmmmmm

on a side note, i think i'm going to ninja down to the hardware store tomorrow and see if the 2 splash/blue silkies are still there and grab them... i think i need them... and i'll hope they're hens and i can breed them to what i think is a white roo..... maybe..... if someone doesn't come snatch them from me... lol....

oohhh and thanks to ke_ben i've now got another 5 peachicks squeaking in my living room.... not sure if i'm grateful or not... they sure are loud for their size... lol... hopefully in 2 years they'll be old enough to lay and they can brood their babies outside ot expand the flock...
