OK, I'll make creme brulee when you come and you can bring the fudge torte for Steve. He's the chocolate hound in the family and he loves macademia nuts. I liked your pineapple cake! That was delicious.

Daegorn be careful, we might just skip Mesquite when we come in spring and stay with you instead! I'm picking up chicks down there in spring.

BTW, I have to take back my comment about the Ams not getting any red yet... When I went to check eggs this afternoon I noticed one of my wheaton Ameraucanas had definitely gotten a lot more red in the face!!! She didn't squat when I got close to her but I'm still excited to see a positive sign that they are finally starting to mature!!!

Oh evonne! I just read your post! That's horrible! I know exactly how you feel. I can help out with some Black am eggs next spring but that's the only thing I am breeding right now.

Keep us updated when you decide which direction you are going to go in, maybe others can help you out with more breeds than I can...

evonne...I have two RIR but they are not much to speak of, if you want to drive over the hill and see them.

lol... thanx for the offer... but i actually have 3 little RIR or production reds that were packing peanuts with my rouen pullets... they should of course be all boys, but one is either a runt, or a girl.. we'll see... and i'm not sure i'm even gonna keep up with most of the LF... i don't know.. if this one SLW i have left is a girl i will try to get some more and maybe still do the cinamon queens... we'll see...

and you guys up in reno.. thanx for the offers too.... it's nice to knw there's people willing to hep even when you don't know which end is up.. lol...

i'm kinda looking forward to the little bit of smaller size flock.. but the bad thing is most of the gone ones were small so not the big eaters... lol.. but it has cut down on the general chaos of my yard... lol...

Evonne - Wow! So sorry to hear of your troubles. Was it your own dogs or someone elses? Wish I could help but with no roo....!

It is good to hear from you though. I was starting to worry.

Welcome back!

no, not one of my dogs....
i'm not 100% sure it was a dog, could have been a coyote or a fox,
but the amount of carnage left laying around, and what was left wasn't even chewed... so i think it was anything that moved it/they chased and caught and went to the next thing running around the yard....
people mentioned that a wild animal doesn't kill for fun, they would have eaten it.... and i don't think a wild animal would have wandered up to the front porch where there's a lot of people and dog smell...

how are all your girls doin??

Evonne, what part of town are you in ? Hopefully I am still urban enough that we wont get any wild animals in to eat our chickens.

So sorry to hear about your troubles, evonne!

I live on the edge of the wilderness - no neighbors on two sides, "nothing for miles and miles but miles and miles", as they say. So predators - especially coyotes, are a huge problem. Which is why my coop and run are built like Fort Knox!
