oh dang. i ony have one box (i will post pics of my coop later, its kind of a mysterious chicken funhouse highrise??). ya see before i had used shelving as the nestbox, and it could easily fit three chickens but if one was in there the others would just wait to lay, so i figures get rid of the shelf and put in one nesting box and they should be fine. so far so good, it just looks a little tight. will post pics later

My boxes are the same size as yours aubreynoramarie and I agree, they look like they would be too small for my chickens. But, they use them all of the time. I think a lot of what looks like bulk is just feathers anyway.

I have cat liter boxes for my girls. I can take them out and scrub them up. I got them from petco. Some time two birds will go in together but they do like to use the same box to lay.

Some times the girls will sit next to each other and peck at the neck of the other bird but I found it was right before molting.

okay well heres the redone coop, it may not look super different, but the girls are not pooping on eachother anymore!

lol at the mass confusion, chuck walked in, looked around and then walked right back out...i had to go out an get her, haha.

and the girls enjoying their new nesting box. I had no eggs this morning so i had to take them one at a time and throw em in there, but they get the idea now

lol, i had to look up what "gingham" meant. yep, thats contact paper...easy cleanup and when we move out we can just peal it off and the landlord will never know that i had chickens pooping there!

Aubrey the new setup looks great. They seem to be dealing with the smaller nest boxes just fine.

Well My order has been made to get my Orpingtons this spring from HinkJC Mountain Poultry.I ordered day olds. I ordered 6 Lavenders(for myself), 3 buff, 3 white, and 3 black. I only wanted the 6 lavs, but there was a 15 chick minimum so.......If anyone wants some nice quality Orpingtons in buff,white or black, I will have 9 available this Spring at $5 a piece(what I paid). We arent sure of the arrival date yet, but Let me know if you want some and Ill let you know as soon as they notify me of an arrival date.

I dont think they will be sexed either....
