Yep, ZooMed ReptiTemp 500R! It's great! Kept my poor homemade bator right on track. I had to order it online though cuz I couldn't find it locally at the time. Worth it though.
That's the one I started to buy but couldn't find any discription on-line about how tight a temperature range it held or how high the temps went. Oh well, live and learn. I did already break down and buy one specifically for an incubator that got high ratings. It is preset for 99.5 but can be calibrated and will hold temps in 10ths of a degree instead of a variance of 5-6 degrees. Course now that I spent the money the current thermostat is working fine.
On the plus side while I was looking for a thermostat I finally found the Flex Watt heat tape I've been looking for! Everyone I called thought I meant Heat tape for keeping pipes from freezing and had never heard of any other kind. It was also pretty cheap! The "mat" is super thin and has wires enclosed in thin sheets of plastic. I got the 11" wide tape and ordered 2 feet of it. That and the clamps and insulators all together only ran me just over 20 dollars including shipping!
I'm so happy I finally found it. It's what every experienced DIYer told me to get but I couldn't find anywhere. I was using heating pads instead (2) and finally had resorted to putting a small space heater in there because the heating pads couldn't keep the bator warm enough during the coldest part of the night. Losing that heater means I can add another rack and turner.
I'll hold off on that for awhile though.
Boy this chicken thing sure has a way of snowballing doesn't it?
