Nevadans?

While i am inclined to agree whole-heartedly with you, I must reiterate that everything Petey does is kind of nasty!

not to say that "nasty" is always a bad thing, but like you said, this is a family forum! Haha, I'm blushing.

Well since Petey is not part of my flock I will take your word on that subject! I am, however, laughing out loud that I made you blush so easily! I definitely would not be someone you would want to spend a lot of time with then, if you are that easy to embarrass. I was a science teacher and there aren't many subjects that bother me. OK, that's misleading, I've always been outspoken about most anything.

...and I thoroughly enjoy embarrasing the heck out of folks.

Ron I can't tell if your mad because you didn't live in Vegas or because everyone assumes that's the only place in Southern NV.

LOL - it's the latter! I'm sure you've noticed how many people from other parts of the country automatically assume you're in Vegas if you say you live in Nevada. Well, even here in Nevada if you say you lived down south people automatically assume you mean Vegas!

Hey that's way cool. But you know what? I reeally hate this, but I was there way before you. My Father moved us to Goodsprings in 1966, and then my Mother moved us out to Sandy Valley in 1970, but I left as soon as I could legally do so in 1975. I didn't go far though. I only moved to Las Vegas for the next few years.

Now, I don't think you could get me to move back into that city again. It's not chicken friendly enough for me.

But yes, I have lived in Nevada since 1966. Except for a brief foray to PA in 79, I have lived most of my life here as a desert rat.

Not at all. Congratulations!

I have the bator filled. In fact, we had a Buff Orpington hatch last night. This is really a surprise baby for me though, cause I didn't even think my Buff Rooster had it in him. At three years old, he has only ever crowed three times that I know of and we never get fertile eggs from his girls. I just had a feeling about this egg and put it in the bator for fun of trying. Low and behold, he has proved me wrong.

Beckycs did she happen to mention how often we would need to do testing? I also have no interest in keeping each age group separate. I know that some diseases spread very easily by air alone and even when you quarantine there is no guarantee that your flock will stay healthy so I am sure they require that you get tested periodically but how often?
I'm confused about the requirement for avian flu testing. According to my research there has never been a case of avian flu in this country. Is this old news or are we testing for something that doesn't exist just to alleve the misinformed public's fears?

Not yet. She confused me a little though. She is considering CA my primary out of state market for selling eggs. I wonder what would happen if say, AZ called for my products more. Do I need to then go by the rules in that state instead of CA. I just didn't understand what difference it made where I shipped the eggs. The way I understand NPIP lets you ship interstate, period! Maybe I am wrong, but I don't see how certificate holders can comply with the different rules in each and every state.

I just waiting to hear more from her this week to clarify some of these points.
