Sorry Tyler, I'm still trying to get moved so I'm not on much these days. Nothing interesting in the general BYC forum?

It was slow today. Not having a job is really on my nerves so I was on FB and BYC for 2 hours in the aftyernoon. I think I'll go to GED class for at least 5 hours tomorrow

Yea It's hard to sit around for very long without getting bored. Those classes should help a lot.

Yes, well, I'm a California girl born and bred but try not to hold it against me. I do love it here but I have to check in with them now and again. The Nevada thread is always my first choice though. When we first moved here I felt lost and this thread helped me feel a sense of community and has also given me some very great friendships! The California thread just doesn't do that but it does help me stay connected with my home state and there are some precious folks on there as well.

Yeah, graduated, but Im not going to college yet. I'm taking a year off, and trying to find a job. I really dont like school at all, last year burnt me out on it.

I understand that! I'm afraid I hated High School. I didn't go to college until I was 28. No one in my family had gone to college so it wasn't something I had ever considered. However college is a completely different world. It's nothing like High School, thank goodness. Although by the time I had my BA I was pretty burnt out on college too. Well more burnt out on being a poor college student since I puy myself through school as a single parent. Whew those were lean times!!!

Oh gosh Sunny, see? You still made it!! Thank you so much for this! Its what I needed to hear. A couple people have been telling me I'll never get back to college after a year off, and I didnt know anyone who actually did successfully. (My mom tried, didnt work out. She still wants to go though)

So, How are you?

I'm doing very well, thank you! Actually re-entry students are numerous and, according to my counselor, are more serious students than those that enter right from High School. It does prove difficult for many folks though, life often gets in the way. Still for those that are committed and are determined it can be a much better way to go. Re-entry students often do much better in college because they are older and more serious.

Tell your Mom to go talk to a counselor at TMCC. It doesn't cost any thing to make an appt to discuss her options. Sometimes the hardest part is taking that first step.
