I asked my mom, and she said they were Angora sheep. When I told her those didnt exist, we went off to google (We dont know, it was on my dad's side.) We think they may have been goats!! Everyones always just called them sheep. :[ Now my awesome Shepard Granpa Carter was a goat farmerr. I took some pictures for reference, what do you think? The males have uber horns, but the females look polled. (I didnt resize any of these due to image quality..

By the way, does anyone know what kind of pig this is? Think 30's era, so anything newer/imported after isnt it. (I'll resize these.

Could be a Duroc. I bread Chester White and Chester White X Duroc when I was in my teens. What is strange is I have never actually laid eyes on a Duroc that I know of. Long story but my Hog operation actually ran for about 6 months in my absence and that was while the cross breeding was going on. Here is a picture of a Duroc.

they have been around since 1823 or so and are a popular breed.

Yes, that's her! She is such a nice lady. We shared several emails and chatted chicken for a very long time! Her birds are amazing! Hey, how close are you coming to Paradise? Maybe you could pick me up some! I regret not taking any when I picked up my Polish!

I love those old pictures laceynoelle! Yep, those are definitely goats!

We have a photo album of pictues like that (currently in my sister's possesion) where none of the pictures was taken later than about 1933, and some are as old as the 19th century! One of these days I'm going to scan them all into the computer so that they can be preserved and shared.

Hey Pentruner here is an example of a place in Dayton that requires virtually no fixup - list price is $156K! 2.09 acres with orchard, 1200 sf shop, covered patio.

Penturner I think youre right!! They look exactly the same.

Okay guys, new life goal, Im soo gonna have a Duroc.

Thank you Aubrey. :] NevadaRon, This is kinda like that, except it goes from like the 1900's (Possibly one or two earlier) up to about the 50's. the only problem with it is although there are some family pictures and stuff like that, nearly every man for as far back as the album goes raced cars, so theres quite a few pictures of nothing but cars, races, wrecked cars, etc. Theyre still cool, but not as family based.

X 2!!!!! Those pics are awesome!!! How cool to have such fantastic family pics! We have the opposite problem. My granparents house was robbed when they were on vacation once and they took everything! Even family pics and us kids baby clothes etc etc! So we have nothing from way back but the whols family has been hoarding pics ever since.

So sorry to have changed the family history so drastically!

But those are some really gorgeous Angora goats!!!

Yes the females look a lot like sheep but with really soft curly hair, like little Shirley Temples! The males however are all goat, with very long beards.

The pigs I raised were a Duroc/Hampshire cross. Durocs are very fast growing, while the Hampshire is one of the best meat producers. So the hybrid gives you a fast grower with an excellent carcass. My pigs were approx. 40 lbs. each when I got them and in less than 6 months they were 350 lbs.!

The only better cross would be a Duroc/Berkshire because the Berkshire has the highest quality meat, but Berkshires are very expensive!

This is them at about 3 months.
