Nevadans?

I just talked to another friend of mine who was at the air races yesterday. He and his fianceé were sitting about 100 feet from where the crash was. But they left ½ hour before the crash to pick up his son at the airport!

When I lived in San Francisco the Blue Angels would do a show during some kind of Fleet Week type of event and it seemed like the planes were flying right up the street I lived on. Very exciting from my balcony!

I don't like the idea of puppy mills but that CA law sounds like it is overly broad - like they do most things over there. Going after flies with bazookas! I used to love to go to the Farmer's Market at the UN Plaza in San Francisco. People there would sell live chickens (for eating). Most of the buyers were oriental, I used to imagine them taking the chicken home and butchering it in their apartment or home (most of which have little or no yard). I suppose that is now illegal thanks to this law.

I absolutely love everything about airplanes. I wanna go to the air races every year. Sunny, I cant believe you flew an airplane!!

Hey. So yesterday my mom told me to make apricot banana nut bread, not zucchini banana nut bread. She's never had zucchini banana nut bread!! She's like 'this is odd.' Its not bad, the cucumber is grated small so you cant really tell what it is, and its still a sweet bread, so Im really counting this as a win. Im pretty sure shes on to me.

You all were talking feed prices the other day. This won't help you Reno folks much but there's a mom-and-pop feed store right by my place (in fact, the owners live just a couple places down the street from me). Anyway, Farmer's Best layer pellets are $14.15 for a 50 lb. bag there. That's a brand of the A.L. Gilbert Co. - those of you from CA may recognize that name, they are a big feed company in the Central Valley. There's a huge plant in Oakdale right on Hwy 120 with rail access too.

LOL on the "cucumber" bread Lacey!!

My pilot step-fathers used to say: There are old pilots and there are bold pilots; but there are no old bold pilots.

In the early 80's he was killed flying a plane. Made national news..........I can still remember what the Good Morning America show called it, even all these years later.................and it still grates on me.

I feel incredible sorrow for the families of those who have died, those who may die and all those injured. I cringe when I listen to the news, as even little things....said innocently will stick with those who are harmed by this.

That aside, I love the Reno Air Races........they are the only races like this in the world. Part of being a spectator – especially for those who truly love the races – means being up close which puts a person in risk of danger. I have sat both in the stands and watched from along the course way – there is an area along Red Rock where watchers/campers gather, and the view is great.

I hope they do not cancel them for good, which would be very sad. But I am sure there is now a fear about being sued. So sad.

While it is very tragic, I feel these people died doing something they loved and enjoyed. A much “better” death in my eyes that the deaths earlier this week – the shooting in Carson. (I know better is not the right word but the best I can do right now and I think you understand what I mean – maybe meaningful would be a better word…….ugh now I am rambling worse!)

Sad. I think people will become more and more removed about where their food comes from.

I was wondering how that bread turned out! I used to have a recipe for pineapple zucchini bread that took me forever to perfect that is now gone!!!

Yes flying a plane was a HUGE rush! BTW I had a CFI (certified flying instructor) by me the whole time. I kept thinking he would take the controls (plane had dual controls) but he never did! Kinda freaked me out at the time, since they ambushed me from the get-go (I thought I was gonna be a passenger til it came time to pile in and he insisted I get in first and my other coworker just nodded when I looked to them for help) but he kept saying "trust me, if I need to take over I will! I won't even ask first".

The only problem was when we were coming in to San Carlos Airport. He told me that I needed to drop a little more in elevation (I was coming in too high) and when I over corrected he said (a little loudly) "Ok let's not land on the Oracle Building!!!" So so exciting!

You could do it Lacey! It's not nearly as hard as I thought it would be, expecially in a super stable plane.

I dont really have anything to say. Its a slow night, i guess. So is this a bump then?
Genny, I know what youre trying to say. Talking about dying doing somthing you love, I hope I do. Maybe it'll be somthing epic, tha would be cool. But for all I care, I can be watering the chickies and kick the bucket. Im good with that too.

We got all 4 walls raised on the coop today! I will take some photos tomorrow as we were working by flashlight again. Burned out our cordless drill motor but had a smaller back up drill that let us finish up. I have to check and see if I'm still under warranty for the drill. Soren's soccer game was a tough one. His team didn't score any goals. The other team was pretty fast and a bit rough. Anyway, still a good experience for them.

good night!

Elizabeth
