Sounds like you need a few things: a hard hat, leather gloves, and steel-toed boots!

Well, at least the leather gloves...

Screws are definitely easier. Coming from a former wood butcher (i.e carpenter) like myself that is hard to say as my instincts were always to use nails. But screws sure are a lot easier!

Aubrey I love the way the house looks. Didn't paint it the same colors as the rest of the block but they certainly weren't shocking colors! I liked it! I thought maybe it would match your pink hair from Halloween, like your avatar.

Are you two all done or is there more to go? I noticed the driveway looks the same. I know you didn't like that either but I thought it was a nice change from the average boring driveways I'm used to. You could always take a concrete saw and cut out the grapes and pour cement (halfway up) then set polished stones in where the grapes were (cement or mortar will hold the stones better than concrete). That's what we were going to do but never got around to it.

Sheryl, I agree with your DH. Good to take responsibilty for your flock yourselves. Although I think every dog owner needs to be responsible as well it will be your heartache if something goes wrong. Sounds like an excellent plan the two of you have. I'm sure it will work out well. If you have a lot of contact with the neighbor that training Genny spoke of would be a great idea.

Lacey I don't know for sure if I am going to try meaties or not yet but if I do I'd love some of your pure Cornish. I remember having them as a kid and they sure were tasty. Smaller than what we get nowadays but worth it!

I am also bouncing around the idea of getting Brown Corturnix (sp?) Quail sometime in the future. They are bigger than the quail I'm used to and I hear they are very tasty! Just can't commit to any new projects quite yet.

Elizabeth you guys sure are making progress! I thought you were the designer on this project but it sounds like you are tackling most of the building of it by yourself as well! Glad your babies are doing well! Hope you head etc, feels better by tomorrow!

Thank you for the pics. It looks great!

Yes, I'm the designer and chief builder! Jose has helped me with some parts but I have made all the cuts, put in all the floor joists, screwed down the floor, framed 2 walls by myself. Jose helped me frame up the last 2 walls so that went faster and of course we needed both of us to raise the walls and put on the siding. He's a good helper but not really a DIY project guy. He doesn't take the initiative on any of these projects. And he loves to add things to my to-do list! I'm the fixer in the house!

have a good night! I should rest up this head of mine.

Elizabeth

I know, I should be properly attired for construction. I admit I was wearing sandals when my toe got injured. Are Crocs close enough to steel toed boots?

The elbow injury would have hurt no matter what I was wearing, except maybe if I were covered in bubble wrap.

My boy keeps throwing up is there anything I can do to stop it? i think He got in a big fight and that's how he got sick in the first place. His wattles are all torn up and his comb looks blue.

That coop looks nice. It's coming along fast.

Sunny I really do like the grapes. Marks brother did the cement in the driveway and I think it's unique. I am just not happy with the hunk of metal in the driveway. Marks getting a car cover for Christmas, HA! were almost done. We painted our bedroom this weekend. All we have left is the back of the house and the deck which thinking about it is going to be quite the daunting task

Then we have windows to replace, sinks, toilets, light fixtures, hole repairs, etc.

Oh, I see now! I thought when you said the driveway needed to be dealt with that you didn't like the grapes and I thought they were cute! Sounds like a normal house!

I don't know that I've ever lived in a place that didn't need constant repairs. Oh well at least you won't be bored.

Decks are actually pretty easy! Get a book from Lowes or Home Depot. Decks are one of those things that just can't be shortcut but they are not hard at all.
