LOL!!!

Marks family has owned this home for 20+ years. Its just been passed on to whoever needs a place to live at that certain time. I seriously doubt this family has ever replaced so much as a lightbulb in the past twenty years. Not to mention marks step-father was a weird guy who just micky moused all sorts of crap all over the place. Its soooo frustrating!!!

Tyler, hope you figure out what's going on with your rooster.

Good luck on all those repairs, aubrey. It's work but pretty satisfying to make those repairs and improvements.

I know it seems pretty big and I second guess myself. Maybe I should have made it smaller? But then I've read on here that no one ever says later, "I should have made a smaller coop."

Don't second guess yourself! By the time you add food, water, storage, nests, roosts, ramps and separate grow out pens yada yada yada it will look too small.

Pretty funny that the old timers who are supposed to be "responsible" left it in such a state of disrepair!

Tyler, I almost hate to ask... How's your boy doing?

Sunny, we wanted to do quail too. We bought 30 of them. Then my genuis cat figured out how to open their cage and massacred ALL of them. I was so mad. There were little body parts all over the house, and she hid about a dozen of them in my bed for later.

They were really cool while we had them though. Im going to do it agian hopefully next year. With maximum protection. We had one of those long latches that slide forward and down, but she managed to open it. She got my parakeet too, and he had one of those slide up doors on his birdcage. Now every small creature has some unbelievably complex lock on thier cage.

Sheryl, his lacing is off because he's a mix, but good call on the SLW part!! SLWs have pea combs, he's got more of a strawberry thing going on. He's a silkie mix I got off craiglist last year. There are actually two more up from the same people. He's a good roo, really protective. Makes cute babies. :]

Elizabeth, that coop is amazing, we're all going to have coop envy by the time youre finished.

Sheesh, you go off for one day and we're three pages up.

Not to mention "chicken math" - that's how you wake up one day and discover that your "couple of chickens just for eggs" has turned into 32! And you still want more!

Ok, i figure it will look like a good size to chicken people but non-chicken people will probably think it's way too big. I guess I shouldn't care what they think. I can see already walking in it that it will fill up fast with all the stuff that goes in there.

laceynoelle, I can't believe your cat got those quail! Maybe I should not be so trusting of my cat. I don't think he can unlatch the rubbermaid tote, though. Last night he slept on the chair next to the brooder.

well, i should try to get some actual work done instead of keeping checking on BYC. I'm on here more than facebook now.

Yes, Ron, you would think 25 chicks would be plenty but I'm already thinking about other breeds l'd like to try!
