I wish I culd go to the swap but this weekend is going to be crazy. I have my first part of the GED test tomorrow. And then my barn is begging to be cleaned and the list keeps growing.

BTW if anyone is interested - S&W Feed in Carson City has a Polish roo in their freebie pen! He's quite handsome; I tried to get a picture of him with my phone but he hid in the little shelter they have before I could snap it.

I have to close the door to my office when I have the brooder open now just in case. I would hate to have one fly out and get hurt by Chicharo. Chicharo is quite interested but still behaving and not jumping on top of the brooder or anything. The chicks are sure trying to fly up but so far just the one made it to the top.

Hey in case anyone is interested I just received this eMail from the NV Division of Forestry:

October 14th and 15th the state nursery in Washoe Valley will be selling nursery stock at 25% off.

CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Division of Forestry State Tree Nursery in Washoe Valley still has a great selection of low-cost, conservation plants available for fall planting. The nursery will be selling all remaining stock at 25% off. The nursery will re-open again May 10th, 2012.

Fall is an optimum time for planting. Warm soils encourage root growth before the ground freezes. Fall plantings with an already established root system will be more tolerant of the summer heat. Take advantage of this time to come visit the Washoe Nursery before it closes for the season on October 15, 2011.

The nursery will be open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Plants are available on a first-come, first-served basis. For a list of available species, please call the nursery at 775-849-0213 or visit http://www.forestry.nv.gov. Most species are available in D-pots for the sale price of $1.69 or T-pots for $2.63.

The nursery is designed to assist landowners by providing plant material suitable for conservation uses such as, but not limited to, windbreaks, soil erosion control, water conservation and wildlife habitats. Plants purchased at the Washoe Nursery must be used for conservation purposes as provided for by NRS 528.105.

The plants are all grown and maintained at the nursery and are conditioned to survive northern Nevada’s cold winters and hot summers. The nursery is located in Washoe Valley at 885 Eastlake Boulevard.

These are great prices and the people there are very helpful. I know I'll be there!​

Gosh, your coop is looking so good, too!! When I move out, can I borrow your blueprints? I know you tweeked it from other coops on here, but I really love this one.

Did anyone else catch a part of that flash storm? He got the biggest hail Ive ever here! We were out, and it was so loud on the truck hood that we could barely hear eachother, and we were shouting!! So cool.
