Cute song and you don't need a great voice to sing it pretty well cause it's an easier song without the huge range that a lot of songs require. Audiences love songs they can sing along with. As Pam well knows that is one of the reasons country music is so popular.

No it doesn't bug me when I see other's errors but when I see them in my own posts it upsets me terribly! No matter how many times I try to reread them to make sure I don't make mistakes I still find them sometimes even on my really old posts! That's the worst cause I feel like OMG how many people saw this!!!

Remember I never taught English, well except as a sub, and then I just followed the regular teacher's instructions. Pretty easy to do that. My grammer never has been great. I remember when I was taking Spanish in college. My Spanish teacher was talking to me after class one day and he said that my pronunciation was great and my vocabulary was wonderful but my sentence structure STUNK!!! He said "can't you just take the rules you know in English and reverse them?" "Ah", I replied, "there's the problem! I still don't know the grammatical rules for English!"

I shouldn't laugh cause that's true, I still don't!

And, no, I'm not an angry singer. I thought that was wierd too how they made 2 of the smilies in that band so angry looking! I forget that you haven't met me yet but I've usually got a stupid grin on my face. I have a very hard time keeping a straight face for any length of time.

Yes Lacey we should definitely get together! All of us! Pam you feel up to a road trip? Well maybe after you heal up from your upcoming surgery. I always wanted to get together a bunch of different songs covering a variety of genres. Not that you would want to get too eclectic at any one performance but it's nice to have a lot to offer and it's fun to challenge yourself a little with stuff that might not be right in the middle of your comfort zone. Although I know there are just some types of music my voice isn't suited for there is a lot I can do if I get my head in the right place. Most of the time I think it's more about the emotion behind the performance than the technical correctness of a performance.

For example I used to do the song "Crazy" at least twice a week and I tell ya, the technical aspect didn't change but I got so sick of singing the same song over and over again that I quit feeling the song and it went over like a lead balloon! I've learned since then you need to draw on whatever you can to put that emotion into your performance, every performance. Even something as simple as looking at your audience and drawing from their enjoyment and their energy can drastically change a performance. I can now sing that song well again because I look at my audience and I can feel their energy and that reminds me that I am singing a song that brings up some wonderful feelings for them and that is a wonderful gift that they are sharing with me!

All that aside I really want to do some big band stuff but on a smaller level with a little more choreography or at least jazzier and some of the old war songs like "I Love You a Bushel and a Peck" or "Boogie Woogie Bugel Boy" with some really cool male harmony (tenor and bass) in a really jazzy version. That song would really rock if it were done right! Not that it hasn't been done right it would just be fun to mix things up a little. I mean don't change it so much that you destroy the nostalgia but you know, just have some FUN with it!

I also always wanted to do a version of "Hit the Road Jack" with a male and female lead (instead of the female vocals being just backup) with the guy going down on his knees and the woman standing her ground and throwing a duffle bag at him during the song. Stuffed with pillows only of course. That would be cute. I used to do "I Got You Babe" by Sonny and Cher and we had the whole complete getup for it. I wore an outrageous outfit (that showed way too much skin), a long straight black wig with leather headband and my partner had the bad hair and the leather fringed jacket complete with headband. The only thing was, he was taller than me so he did the whole song on his knees with them resting inside his shoes so he would be shorter than me. That was a song that always got a ton of laughs!

I rarely do country music unless it's one of those songs that crosses over into other genres. I do "Crazy" a lot because it is requested so often and I like a lot of Anne Murray's and Linda Rondstadt's music like "I Can See Clearly Now", "Can I Have This Dance", "Desperado", "Different Drum" or "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" (btw the guy that wrote the song "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" lives in the same retire complex as my parents do) but I don't usually do country music. It does tend to be an easier type of music to sing though so it can be fun. Yea I think there are quite a few country songs that I might like to do someday. I just haven't so far.
The club I worked at the longest in the Bay Area was an oldies club so that was, of course, what I sang the most of. Oh and it had to be a song you could dance to cause the club had a large dance floor, except for "I Got You Babe" which was always done really late in the evening when more than a few folks had had a bit too much to drink.

I don't see a link on your post Tyler.

Good night Sheryl!

That is sad. I don't even listen to many other genres and when I do it's only a couple people.

It's not sad. I've still got my voice and there are a lot of great types of music out there. I may do a lot more country if I'm performing here in Reno cause it's so popular here. I never said I wouldn't do it. I would think it sad for anyone to limit themselves to only one type of music when there is so much out there.

They are probably thinking of the old fashioned twangy stuff where all the songs talked about their failing marriages or their broken hearts. There was a spell there where country music got stuck in a real rut but it is really varied now. It's got a lot more to choose from these days.

Psshh! I like some of that Twangy stuff!! And new country. lol, I was just reminded of the Blues Brothers where the bar said they had both kinds of music, Country AND Western.
I do think its better to listen to different genres, it seems to make your music better as a whole when you have all sorts of things to draw on. Plus the more influences you have in the life, the more well roundede you are according to my old English teacher. Seems legit. But I do have to say, I think Country is my favorite, Tyler. Thanks for the link!!
