At the begining of October there were people on Craigslist warning everyone not to get rid of their all black or all white cats, and if you owned one to keep it indoors because supposedly there are Satanists that use halloween to sacrifice cats to the devil or somthing. Then there were arguments and stuff in the pets section, it was total chaos. Religion was even called into it, and there were a lot of reeaallllyy angry people.
It makes no sense to me, because halloween isnt that kind of holiday. Its a fun holiday in all cultures, so I dont know where people got this idea. Hispanics have 'dia de la morte' and its like some sort of celebration of the family members that passed away (I think? Elizabeth?). Even people who are 'witches' (Pagans, right?) use the holiday for spiritual nearness, to communicate w/ family and stuff. I totally googled this stuff, so I
do have to put the other end too.
Shelters and the SPCA say they really watch which cats and dogs they adopt out during october, but they mentioned it was a just in case thing. And then there's the case in Fernly my mom heard about where two teenagers got convicted and sent to prison for setting an all black cat on fire for halloween. I dont remember, but I think she said they got 15 years because the judge was really angry. But this wasnt documented online so Idk if its legit or gossip.
So thats what I know, someone else might have somthing to throw in.
