Well, I think she needs to go broody more times before I even attempt this. The others were able to get her off the nest while they laid their eggs and she stayed off the nest for quite a while. She's back on it and won't leave it for now but I'm sure she can be moved off again by the others. I think she's too young to do it, she's only 7 months old.

congrats on the job, lacey! that's great!

sorry the broody wasn't ready yet, sheryl.

I got quite a bit done on the coop today. i made the people door, nest box door and clean out door and Cut, painted and installed the door trim. i will install the doors tomorrow. the nest box door will have to be reworked. it doesn't fit in right. A bit of a bum steer from building chicken coops for dummies. I will have to fiddle around with it. anyway, it was good progress.

have a good night!

ya'll.

Ranchie's passing earlier in the week, touched me more than I thought it would.

I hope that you ALL are taking care of yourselves - I care about each of you - even though at times it may not seem like it cause I am MIA - but I count all of you as my friend.

Now I will have to spend sometime catching up.

I get many broodies in winter, and yep I let them do their thing. Chicks do very well with momma - even in the cold - but I do keep them in on really windy days or wet days.

Thanks Genny! Sorry to hear about Ranchie but I don't know who or what Ranchie is but it sounds like it was very hard on you.

Not sure if you read yet that Bella started laying eggs again. That one really surprised me. She's still low on her weight and she looks pretty ugly too but she's hanging in there. I'm calling her the resident chicken because whenever she gets out of the coop she jumps right over the enclosure and into the yard. She doesn't get in to anything she shouldn't and I make sure she has food & water and let her do her own thing. She laid 3 eggs and then started her molt so she hasn't laid anymore. We shall she in spring what happens.

I'm worried about the extension with UNR, it doesn't look good for them. They're having issues with money and the extension is on the bottom of the list to get money so if they can't keep going on their own then they will be closed soon. I'm thinking about purchasing my meat only from them to try to help them out.

My flight leaves tomorrow at 1pm to take me to Florida. Wow this trip came up fast all of a sudden.

Hey Tyler, my DH came in 3rd place in the Nevada Day Pinewood Derby race, he was in the Old Geezer's and he used one of the cars that was 21 years old. He didn't do a thing to it except add graphite dust. That sure was funny. I think he should have brought the 40 something year old car there too and he couldn't have seen how it raced. But he did get a nice trophy and he wasn't the oldest one to compete so I finally wasn't embarrassed about him participating.

Okay all, have a good night. I may come back on later tonight while I'm packing the rest of my stuff.
