I can't see the video yet so I'll watch it when I get home today from work. I've never heard of such a thing but then again, Bella went into the coop last night to sleep so my DH and I went into the house while the rest were making their way into the coop. We came out after dinner and locked the coop up the next thing we knew there was Bella on top of the bar-b-que in the dark. We put her into the brooder. I guess she decided she didn't want to be in there with the other girls last night. I haven't seen that before either. I know she came out of the coop while it was dark.
ETA: Bella doesn't always sleep in the coop with the others so instead she goes to the brooder to sleep but last night she went into the coop and came out after dark.
i worry that maybe thats why bella is getting picked on so bad? you know how when you seperate a bird for a night or two it knocks em down a peg...well if she is seperating herself then and not sleeping with them/waking up with them in the morning then she is not establishing a place in the flock again?
Little frizzle Ruby goes to bed in the nesting box and every night i have to take her out and put her in the coop, but i think that might be because she cant use the ramp
although my showgirl was the same way until recently

I just don't know what to say about her. I kept her in the coop all of the time to sleep with the others and the first thing she would do is run out as fast as she can and jump over the fence. You know she has always been one who would not share anything and always pecking on the the littles. She even jumped a few feet and landed on one of the BR's with her talons, she was very mean. Right now she's half the size she was when she first came and she will fight with them if she can but she loses every time. I decided weeks ago to let her do what she wants and leave it at that. She gets to choose what she wants to do and if it means she doesn't want to sleep with the others then so be it. We are not having anymore issues with anyone now, it's just strange that she doesn't think she needs them. She will hang around the fence and visit with them but that's it. She can go back in there if she wants to but she doesn't want to. Shes's just a resident chicken now, I guess you can call her a Nomad or even a Rogue. John & I don't mind as long as there isn't fighting.

Yes, she actually is, maybe I should change her name to Aubrey and change her feather coloring to a nice flashy red and get her some piercings with tatoos? I love when people or animals can be what they want to be. It's the way things should be!
She would have friends over all of the time and when they bother her she'll just go into her box and have quality time with herself!
Life is so beautiful! Just like your heart Aubrey!

love hearing stories of your unique chickens! they are funny creatures.
can't wait for the show on saturday. I think I will be there in the afternoon. the kids are invited to a birthday party at roller kingdom in the morning. it's close to the show so I can pop over after that.
I got so much done on the coop over the weekend. loved having friday off to get more done. We got the siding on to cover the gable ends. I put in two vents on each end. then I got a 2nd coat of paint on all the outside walls and painted under the eaves. I cut and painted the corner trim pieces. I will install those sometime this week, hopefully. the next steps after that are to construct the windows and install the vent covers, then start on the run. wish I had a magic wand to finish it a little quicker!
Here's the coop as it now.
